About the role

The Oxford University Museum of Natural History is seeking a committed, proactive Deputy Visitor Experience Manager. This role involves working with the Visitor Experience team to welcome approximately 830,000 visitors annually, providing information, support, and assistance, as well as soliciting donations to support the Museum's work. The role includes managing the Museum’s reception desk, liaising with various departments within the Museum, the University’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums sites, and the central Divisional Office.

The environment is vibrant and busy, both inside and outside of opening hours. The Visitor Experience team is friendly, approachable, and adaptable, ready to assist visitors as needed. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 36.5 hours per week, from Sunday to Thursday. The role involves lifting and moving equipment and furniture. A satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required due to access to Museum collections.

About You

You should have experience working in a busy, public-facing role, with a commitment to excellent customer service and resilience in challenging situations. You must demonstrate leadership abilities to deputise and direct the Visitor Experience team, maintain a professional attitude, and lead by example. Confidence in using Microsoft Office and learning new software is essential.

You will be a crucial member of the Finance team, reporting into the Financial Controller. This is done through its well-known restaurants across the globe, website, and stocked in many wholesale customer outlets and retail stores globally. As a crucial member of the Finance team, reporting into a dynamic Financial Controller you will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of business reports, including monthly management accounts for the businesses group of companies. The main objective of the role is to analyse and report on financial performance, including sales and margin analysis, support in the development of reporting systems, dashboards and KPIs, and to ensure all stakeholders can fully rely upon the financial information provided. Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with minimum two years Management Reporting experience
  • Retail/Stock/Margin experience
