We are looking for motivated and experienced HSE Specialist to join us at our London (West Thurrock) Site to lead the site's compliance of the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations (COMAH).
In this role you will be responsible for:
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant COMAH related safety regulations concerning hazardous chemicals. Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards.
+ Inspection & Testing: Lead the site's inspection schedule, which includes regular inspections and testing of hazardous chemicals process equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. Document findings and implement corrective actions as necessary.
+ Thermal Safety Program: Oversee, implement, and maintain the thermal safety program, ensuring the safe operation of all burners, boilers, and combustors on site.
+ Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends and innovations in HSE practices. Recommend improvements to existing policies and procedures to enhance safety and compliance.
+ Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing results, incident reports, and COMAH compliance activities. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities.
+ Risk Assessment: Perform risk assessments and evaluate projects or changes related to thermal safety or COMAH systems such as chemical handling, storage, and disposal. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
+ External Relationships: Foster and maintain relationships with external partners, including other chemical plants, local authorities, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate on best practices and compliance strategies.
+ Training & Education: Develop and deliver training programs for employees on hazardous material handling, thermal safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
This is day-based role, and you will be expected to work 40 hours per week. We're a build from within company, meaning we're looking for those interested in building a career, not just a job with us.

+ Experience with risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
+ Experience with process safety programs / boilers-combustors operations.
+ Previous experience in project management or planning and schedule are a plus.
+ Certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CIH) are a plus.
+ Fluent ability to communicate in English.
