**What You'll Do**
+ Manage end-to-end import and export control operations across the UK & Ireland.
+ Prepare, validate, and oversee shipping and customs documentation.
+ Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders.
+ Ensure compliance with UK and international trade laws, export controls, and sanctions.
+ Apply correct tariff classifications to materials and monitor duty/tax accuracy.
+ Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory reporting, acting as main contact for HMRC or industry body audits.
+ Monitor and respond to regulatory changes, ensuring the business remains compliant and prepared.
+ Troubleshoot customs or shipping issues to avoid delays.
+ Share best practice with other Roche entities and support a sustainable approach to import/export activities.
**What You Bring**
+ Solid experience in import/export control, customs, or international trade.
+ Strong knowledge of UK and international trade laws and regulations.
+ Proven ability to manage shipping documentation, tariff classifications, and compliance processes.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import/Export Officer to manage and ensure compliance with UK and international trade regulations. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of our import/export operations, supporting audits, managing customs documentation, and ensuring accurate data flow across systems. The successful candidate will replace the current officer and take over a well-defined set of responsibilities involving trade compliance audits, Oracle system operations, customs licensing, and dual-use goods management.
Key Responsibilities Trade Compliance Audits & Internal Controls
+ Carrier declarations (Direct Representation)
+ FYCO internal audits
+ Customs license condition reviews
+ UKGT code matching with IP/OP licenses
+ Dual-use and X002 MSS checks
+ Invoice statement reviews (non-standard Incoterms/notes)
+ Dual-use attachments for MVS
+ Master Data attribute reviews (MVS)
+ Trade compliance screenings (9Hz, sales)
+ Archiving checks (5-year data retention)
+ Customs values list updates
+ Non-standard service flows
+ CVP OP/VAT relief categorization
+ MSS IM/EX report reviews
+ Dual-use license usage reporting via SPIRE
+ Export shipping invoice instruction audits
+ PLM audit of UKGT changes
System Operations & Documentation
+ Oracle: EUK Inquiry & OM Export Compliance
+ Oracle: Remove EC holds and amend attachments
+ Descartes: Company/individual compliance screening
+ SPIRE/LITE for dual-use licensing
+ Chamber of Commerce: Certificates of Origin and Carnets
+ F15 Legal and Operations Forms
Regulatory & Training Requirements
+ Maintain knowledge of UK ECJU Dual-Use regulations
+ Maintain knowledge of US ECCN classification
+ Monitor HMRC Consent List changes
+ Participate in EMEA Logistics & Customs meetings
+ Participate in EMEA Trade Compliance Audit meetings
+ Hold or be willing to obtain Customs Academy Level 4 Diploma in International Trade
Required Skills & Qualifications
+ Proven experience in import/export operations and trade compliance
+ Strong understanding of UKGT codes, Incoterms, and dual-use regulations
+ Proficiency in Oracle and Descartes systems
+ Familiarity with SPIRE/LITE platforms and Chamber of Commerce procedures
+ Excellent organizational and audit skills
+ Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
+ Degree, Diploma or Certification in international trade and/or customs compliance (preferred)
Additional Requirements
+ Must have access to a phone for operational coordination
+ Willingness to attend regular internal and external compliance meetings
+ Ability to work from Norwich office and collaborate with EMEA teams
