The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects developed in Rebellion's games. Not only particle effects, but screen post effects, material effects, mesh destruction effects and UI effects, developed in Rebellion's proprietary engine “Asura”.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and design high-quality real-time particle effects that elevate the look and feel of the game.
  • Maintain strong artistic and technical standards, making refinements to ensure effects are both polished and performant.
  • Use available assets to immerse players in rich, atmospheric worlds that enhance the game’s narrative and experience.
  • Draw on game design documents to understand environments, objectives, storylines, and overall style, ensuring your effects support the project vision.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with industry tools such as Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects (or equivalent software).

Our client, a pioneering force in the digital entertainment space, is seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Senior VFX Artist to join their entirely remote creative team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to visually stunning projects, pushing the boundaries of digital art and immersive experiences. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing high-quality visual effects for a range of media, ensuring artistic integrity and technical excellence. Your work will involve creating everything from complex particle simulations and fluid dynamics to magical spells and environmental effects. You will collaborate closely with directors, art leads, and other artists to bring creative visions to life, ensuring seamless integration of VFX within the overall production pipeline. The ideal candidate possesses a strong artistic eye, a deep understanding of visual storytelling, and mastery of industry-standard VFX software. You will be expected to provide creative leadership, mentor junior artists, and contribute to establishing best practices for VFX creation within a remote-first environment. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a passion for innovation, and the ability to solve challenging visual problems. You will be instrumental in developing and refining visual styles, ensuring consistency and impact across all projects. Experience with real-time VFX and game engines is a significant advantage. Key Responsibilities:
  • Create high-quality visual effects for various media projects.
  • Design and implement particle systems, simulations, and procedural effects.
  • Collaborate with directors and art leads to achieve artistic vision.
  • Mentor and guide junior VFX artists.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and optimize VFX for performance.
  • Develop and maintain style guides for visual effects.
  • Stay current with emerging VFX technologies and trends.
  • Contribute to pipeline development and workflow improvements.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in visual effects artistry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of VFX work.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard VFX software (e.g., Houdini, Maya, After Effects, Nuke).
  • Expertise in particle systems, simulations, and compositing.
  • Excellent artistic fundamentals, including color theory, composition, and lighting.
  • Experience mentoring junior artists and providing creative feedback.
  • Strong understanding of real-time VFX pipelines (Unity, Unreal Engine) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
