My Walsall based client are looking for a Document Controller to join their expanding team on a full time and permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have expertise in ASITE to manage, track, and distribute project documentation for major engineering or construction projects. You will be responsible for maintaining the document control system, ensuring compliance with company and project standards, and facilitating communication across all project stakeholders via the ASITE platform.

Duties:-

  • Manage and maintain all controlled documents using ASITE.
  • li>Set up and manage document control processes and workflows within ASITE, including transmittals, RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions.
  • Ensure proper version control and archiving of project documentation.

Key Skills:-

  • Proven experience as a Document Controller, ideally within the construction or engineering sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASITE and its document management modules.
  • Familiarity with document control procedures, quality systems, and ISO standards.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • If you have any knowledge of other CDE platforms (e.g., Aconex, Viewpoint, ProjectWise) this would be advantageous
  • Experience working on large infrastructure or public sector projects.
  • Basic understanding of BIM and project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not essential).

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic Project Controls team, working as a Document Controller on some of the UK's largest Transportation, National Highways, Nuclear, Defence and Infrastructure projects. You will be part of an experienced team that have a significant impact on the successful delivery of these multi-million-pound contracts, using state of the art Project Controls tools and techniques that provide concise information to the projects they support the UK and overseas.

Your purpose:
  • Responsible for controlling the numbering, filing, sorting, and retrieving of electronically stored documentation produced by project teams.
  • Ensure identification of documents and compliance with standard templates and formats.
  • Perform quality and compliance checks on all documentation before issuing.
  • Register and maintain documents in the Electronic Document Management Systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining document registers and trackers.
  • Ensure external engineering contractors follow the standard; procedures work instructions and specifications.
  • Liaise with and distribute project related information with all levels of the project team and external parties.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on projects when required.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently.

What you can bring:
  • Good working knowledge Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) such as ProjectWise, AssetWise, Asite, Business Collaborator and others.
  • Asite experience user, admin level, able to provide training.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Words, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Relevant experience in a similar role in Document control and good knowledge in document control and management processes.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of the team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet target deadlines.

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Document Controller to join their thriving T&D Construction Division on a Permanent basis.

The Document Controller will manage, control, and maintain all project documentation in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with National Grid standards, project requirements, and regulatory documentation protocols throughout the lifecycle of substation construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and control all project documents in accordance with National Grid's Document Management System (e.g., SharePoint, Aconex, or ProjectWise).
  • Ensure all documentation complies with National Grid's Engineering and Construction standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage document workflows including review, approval, revision, distribution, and archiving processes.
  • Support the project team in the preparation, formatting, and submission of engineering drawings, reports, transmittals, method statements, and other technical documents.

  • Familiarity with National Grid standards (advantageous), NEC contracts, and UK regulatory frameworks, H&S and Compliance Documentation.
  • Knowledge of engineering terminology and drawing standards.
  • Training in ISO 9001 or project documentation QA/QC processes (advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and under tight deadlines.
