**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
Overseeing the overall technical solution that meets customer Requirement based on reference Solution.
This includes the following actives:
+ Responsible for leading overall requirement, design, implementation, and testing of digital control system of the HVDC Control & Protection system this includes network & Cybersecurity design
+ Lead the configuration of IEC61850 IED's via vendor specific tools and System Configuration Tools for complete system integration.
+ Lead the generation of Substation Configuration description Language (SCL) files for system integration.
+ Knowledge of Sequencing & interlocking principles used in substation automation systems and their implementation on IEC61850 IED's.
+ Lead the design, configuration and testing required to deliver on time and within defined budgets the HVDC Control System hardware.
+ Lead the testing and debugging of complex IEC61850 communication systems using industry standard tools such as IEDSCout, Wireshark etc.
+ Good experience with HMI/SCADA technologies, implementation, testing and installation.
+ Coordinate and interface the HVDC Control System with Balance of Plant equipment and SCADA systems.
+ Define the main IO Lists of the control system.
+ Analyse signal interfaces and ensure compatibility with the control system.
+ Lead in collaboration with NPI teams, the configuration of Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Bay Controllers (BCU) and Merging Units for signal acquisition in digital substation environments.

Controls & Automation Engineer required with an in-depth knowledge of PLC and/or SCADA by a mid-sized business growing at 30% per year. They are in an exciting position to help companies meet their Net Zero and other carbon / emission related goals.
The Automation Engineer will design and commission new C&I systems for heat recovery projects. These projects are delivered on a turnkey basis to clients looking to reduce carbon emissions through recovering the heat lost in their operations.
This is a varied and challenging role that involves many aspects from design & development, testing, commissioning through to handover to the client on site.
The Automation Engineer role:
* Designing and developing new control systems.
* Writing complex programmes from scratch on any manufacturer’s software.
* Create library of programs used in various heat recovery product lines and improve and standardise company tools.
* Work closely with sales team and/or customers to develop SOP.
* Configure and program the Human Machine Interface (HMI), controllers and network (Modbus, BACnet, etc.) according to the established standards.
* Create control and network drawings and prepare necessary documentation for the projects and clients.

This is a great opportunity to join the established Engineering Team at our clients busy distribution centre in Derbyshire and as a Automation Engineer , you'll play a critical role in ensuring the systems, products, and processes operate with maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
We are looking for a strong team player that has experience within an FMCG environment, multi skilled with an electrical bias and a solid understanding and experience with Siemens S7.
With the team you will need to confidently respond to breakdowns and manage the schedule of planned maintenance on a wide range of equipment on site that includes, but not limited, to belted and roller conveyors, right angle transfers (RAT), automated storage retrieval system and material handling equipment, box erectors, print & apply machines, carton erectors, lid applicators etc
Key Responsibilities of a Automation Engineer
- Carry out routine and preventative on automation, control panels and robotics
- Fault finding and trouble shooting of equipment
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum and support technicians
- Mentoring the technicians on site
- Record all work in the CMMS system
- Adhere to Health & Safety Guidelines
- Attention to detail
- Apprentice trained or Equivalent Minimum level 3
- Multi Skilled Electrically Bias
- Experienced in Automation, Maintenance Engineering within an FMCG environment
- Experience with Siemens S7
- Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of HMI's and PLCs
- Strong Communicator
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis

Automation Engineer – 12 Month Contract (Inside IR35)
- Exciting opportunity to work in the water industry
- Remote working with monthly meetings in Bath + site installation work in Dorset and Somerset
This is an exciting opportunity to join a major project in the water industry – a stable sector with significant ongoing investment. Initially a 12-month contract, the scope of project work could extend up to 5 years, offering excellent long-term potential.
You’ll be part of a team of 20, working with a business that values its people and builds its culture on honesty, communication, hard work, and trustworthiness. Water industry experience is not required – the client will consider strong automation and control engineers from other sectors.
The Role
You’ll support the delivery of automation and control projects from detailed design through to site commissioning, with responsibilities including:
Detailed Design:

PLC control software writing to URS

HMI/SCADA graphical interface creation

Software Factory Acceptance Testing (bench FAT)

Site telemetry preparation (Prism/ScopeX)
On-Site Commissioning:

Panel (MCC) Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

Site PLC code installation, testing, and functional testing against URS

Legacy PLC systems integration
-
Site telemetry testing

Inter-PLC communications installation and testing (fibre optic and radio Ethernet)

Fibre optic ring (redundant) commissioning and fault finding

Profibus DP network commissioning and diagnostics

Updating and reporting to the Senior Automation Engineer on project activities
Knowledge & Experience required:
