**Roles and Responsibilities:**
Overseeing the overall technical solution that meets customer Requirement based on reference Solution.
This includes the following actives:
+ Responsible for leading overall requirement, design, implementation, and testing of digital control system of the HVDC Control & Protection system this includes network & Cybersecurity design
+ Lead the configuration of IEC61850 IED's via vendor specific tools and System Configuration Tools for complete system integration.
+ Lead the generation of Substation Configuration description Language (SCL) files for system integration.
+ Knowledge of Sequencing & interlocking principles used in substation automation systems and their implementation on IEC61850 IED's.
+ Lead the design, configuration and testing required to deliver on time and within defined budgets the HVDC Control System hardware.
+ Lead the testing and debugging of complex IEC61850 communication systems using industry standard tools such as IEDSCout, Wireshark etc.
+ Good experience with HMI/SCADA technologies, implementation, testing and installation.
+ Coordinate and interface the HVDC Control System with Balance of Plant equipment and SCADA systems.
+ Define the main IO Lists of the control system.
+ Analyse signal interfaces and ensure compatibility with the control system.
+ Lead in collaboration with NPI teams, the configuration of Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Bay Controllers (BCU) and Merging Units for signal acquisition in digital substation environments.
+ Lead the design of LAN networks/Communication Architectures and configuration of industrial ethernet switches/routers and satellite clocks.
+ Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.
+ Define Control Panel requirements and produce detailed design documentation for the control system using standard design blocks under the guidance of lead engineers.

Our client is a well-established, family-owned engineering business specialising in bespoke machinery and processing systems.

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Automation Engineer to join a growing engineering team responsible for machine design, upgrades, and site support. This role involves working with PLC programming, electrical design, and assembly of electrical control panels.

Package:

  • Company credit card to cover business expenses while travelling abroad
  • 40 hour working week (8am-5pm Monday - Thursday & 8am - 2pm Fridays)
  • 50,000 - 60,000 (DOE)

Automation Engineer - Responsibilities:

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Rockwell RSLogix5000 preferred) including motion control and HMI interfaces.
  • Create and modify electrical designs using EPlan and AutoCAD to support control systems integration.
  • Build and assemble electrical control panels
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and installation teams to deliver fully functional and compliant machinery.
  • Undertake international travel for machine commissioning and on-site support
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant machine safety standards and ensure all designs comply.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems, and documentation within the engineering team.

Automation Engineer - Requirements:

  • Proven experience in PLC programming
  • Strong skills in motion control and HMI design.
  • Competence in electrical design software and panel assembly techniques.

Boden Group are recruiting on behalf of a Worldwide leading Pharma Organisation, fora brand new state of the art manufacturing facility based in Cambridgeshire.

The Automation Engineer will serve as a senior member of staff in the setup of the R&D. The AE will be instrumental in Developing process control applications utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA).

This is a permanent role however we can offer an interim period of up to 3 months on contract, temporary rates up to 360 per day.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and support of capital projects. Responsible for the application of advanced automation engineering principles in the design, specification, construction, startup, and validation of process equipment and systems for capital projects of significant scope and complexity.

2. Provide understanding of project life cycles.

3. Responsible for industry standards for batch control systems, software development life cycle methodologies, 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP.

4. Development of detailed specification, engineering documents, SOP and operating standards.

5. Ownership and administration of process control automation in a GMP regulated manufacturing setting.

6. Engage in, and process change control requests per established SOP and processes.

7. Lead technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting on process control issues related to electrical, instrumentation and control systems.

8. Design and test of newly installed and currently installed automation based process equipment. Support new product introductions or new technology introductions by performing engineering assessments, implementing automation system configuration changes and supporting engineering runs.

Qualification & person spec:

The below is desirable but not limited to -

1. B.S or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering or related life science engineering.

2. Strong control system automation background focused specifically in design, installation, programming and validation of automated processes.

3. 2+ years combined experience with the following product platforms: Emerson DeltaV DCS systems version 11 or above, Rockwell Automation Factory Talk & ControlLogix PLC Platform.

4. Ability to create, update and read electrical design packages including SDS, URS, IQ, OQ and VSR among other engineering and validation documentation.

5. Knowledge of ASTM 2500, S88 and S95 techniques
