Carbon60 are proud to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services to recruit for an Inspector within the Inspection department. Lufthansa Technik are a global leading provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the civil aviation industry.
This Inspector position is on a permanent basis and has become available due to continued growth and expansion. In this role you will be responsible for the detailed inspection of aircraft components using manual measuring tools and inputting data onto Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear's SAP system to record condition of component.
Role Responsibilities will include:
- Undertake and complete a detailed inspection of all components (with exception of components which require a quarantine process due to incident / accident.) using latest criteria and Inspection equipment.
- Creation and modification of component overhaul / Repair routes within SAP as required.
- Ensuring that all information (I.E. P/N, S/N and Condition) is recorded in the shop Repair Order and on LTLGS SAP system.
- Carry out accurate measurement of components where required due to workload.
- Liaise with colleagues and engineers in other departments to organise component repair and overhaul.
- Train and mentor other team personnel within the role subject to your qualifications and experience.
- Maintain a personal Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
- Actively participate in department daily dialog meetings.
Skills and Experience required:
- Extensive experience within an Aerospace Engineering or equivalent environment.
- Previous mechanical component inspection background.
- PC literate.
- Previous experience working within an SAP computer system would advantageous.
- Good knowledge of inspection techniques and equipment,
- Previous practical experience using imperial measurement tools.

Ensure precision-machined and fabricated components meet customer specifications and quality standards through timely in-process, first-off and final inspection on the afternoon shift.

* FARO Arm portable CMM use and basic PolyWorks reporting.
* CMM operation (any brand) and/or blue-light/laser scanning exposure.
* Experience in precision machining, fabrication, heavy engineering or similar.

* Time-served manual machinist or inspector seeking a step up into a more detailed inspection role.
* Solid understanding of measurement techniques, machining processes and shop-floor workflows.

Candidates would need to have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for BPSS security clearance.
What the role of the Quality Inspector entails:
Some of the main duties of the Quality Inspector will include:
- Responsible for mechanical inspection of all Company Products, using a wide range of hand measuring tools and other inspection equipment including the CMM.
- Nominated DQR for product release of specific customer products
- Certifying Staff for release of Civil Aerospace products
- Responsible for verification of supplier FAIRs.

What experience you need to be the successful Quality Inspector:
- Proven experience of working in a Quality Mechanical Inspector role.
- Significant previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment using mechanical measuring equipment.
- Familiar with FAIR's to AS9102 is essential.
- Proven ability to use a wide range of hand measuring tools and other inspection equipment including a CNC CMM.
- Previous experience of producing accurate and detailed comprehensive written reports on non-conforming product.
- Microsoft Office skills, including the creation of Excel spreadsheets.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good command of the English language and very articulate
- Good presentation and communication skills at all levels, both externally and internally.
- Literate and numerical aptitude.
