About the Inventory Specialist role.
As one of our Inventory Specialists you will be working in a busy distribution environment ordering a range of Tools and Industrial products from a number of suppliers maximising product availability whilst minimising slow and non-moving stock.
We're looking for someone with strong administration abilities who possesses a combination of excellent organisation, communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively both independently and as part of a team to join our Central Stock team as an Inventory Specialist.
Whilst you may not have purchasing experience, if you have transferable soft skills that lend themselves to working in a fast-paced administrative role with high levels of attention to detail, can multi-task and change priorities when required this could be the role for you. Key responsibilities will include:
- Placing Purchase Orders for a dedicated range of products and suppliers li>Proactive expediting ensuring on-time delivery of Purchase Orders li>Monthly stock profiling li>Managing high accuracy levels of delivery dates through effective order book management. li>Liaising closely with other functions to contribute towards the success of catalogue launches and promotional activity by ensuring high levels of stock availability li>Through robust stock performance analysis proactively look to reduce excess and obsolete stock and actioning contractual stock cleanses back to suppliers. li>Ensuring continuous improvement of ‘housekeeping’ standards with regards to the maintenance of data, resolution of queries generated by Suppliers, Goods In, Accounts etc.
- upporting colleagues in our branch network to resolve internal order or stock queries.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week, including Saturdays on a rota basis.

Job Description
Location: Stanford-Le-Hope
Remuneration: Up to 28,000 per annum
Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm
Join a dynamic organisation based in a Stanford-Le-Hope, specialising in top-tier warehousing and distribution services. They are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Inventory Controller to help keep their operations running smoothly!
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels across all product categories and locations.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits for data accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes for corrective action.
- Coordinate with purchasing and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Generate and analyse inventory reports, including stock levels and turnover rates.
- Prepare regular management reports on inventory status and trends.
- Maintain inventory databases, ensuring data integrity across all systems.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (ideally)
- Experience in inventory management or warehousing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Core Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Working Conditions:
- Office and warehouse environment with occasional lifting of inventory items.
- Afternoon/evening hours with some overtime during inventory counts.
