Our client, a leading telecommunications innovator, is seeking a visionary Lead Network Architect to design and implement cutting-edge 5G and IoT network solutions. This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to shape the future of connectivity from anywhere in the UK.

As the Lead Network Architect, you will be responsible for the overall architecture, design, and deployment of complex, scalable, and secure network infrastructures supporting 5G mobile services and a vast array of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. You will lead a team of highly skilled network engineers, collaborating with product development, operations, and strategy teams to deliver robust and innovative solutions that meet the evolving demands of the digital landscape. Your expertise will be critical in defining the technical roadmap and ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining the comprehensive network architecture for 5G and IoT services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Designing end-to-end network solutions, including RAN, Core Network, Transport, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Leading the technical evaluation and selection of network hardware, software, and service providers.
  • Overseeing the integration of new technologies and protocols relevant to 5G and IoT, such as SDN, NFV, MEC, and LPWAN.
  • Defining security policies and best practices for network infrastructure to protect against cyber threats.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical network designs.
  • Mentoring and guiding a team of network engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Developing and documenting network standards, procedures, and technical roadmaps.
  • Conducting performance analysis, capacity planning, and troubleshooting of complex network issues.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings in the 5G and IoT space.
  • Leading proof-of-concept initiatives and pilot deployments for new network capabilities.
  • Ensuring network designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 10 years of progressive experience in telecommunications network architecture, including significant focus on 5G and IoT. Deep expertise in mobile core networks (e.g., 5GC, EPC), radio access networks (e.g., NR, LTE), IP networking, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and network virtualization (NFV/SDN) is essential. Proven experience with IoT platforms, protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP), and security frameworks is highly desirable. Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills are required to effectively lead a team and influence stakeholders.
