The Role
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack / IoT Software Engineer to support our mission to bring automated drug discovery into reality. You will be part of a small, dynamic team working alongside embedded mechanical and software engineers and scientists. We build IoT devices and web apps to address unmet needs in automating critical experimental biology processes. Help us connect the physical and digital worlds to fully automate drug discovery!
Please note this is a hybrid role and regular travel is required to our site in Oxford, UK (minimum 3-4 days per week), with flexibility to work from home the remaining time. We are a flexible working organisation and we’re willing to consider various options which would provide similar contact time with the team.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Be part of a small, focused product team developing cloud-enabled IoT software and hardware from scratch.
- See the direct impact of your work as you collaborate with scientists, engineers, and medicinal chemists who are discovering breakthrough drugs with tools you create.
- Own the implementation of custom components and views for controlling IoT analytical tools using Vue / Nest.
- Code in Typescript for front- and backend modules using the latest frameworks.
- Contribute to automation test suite using Vitest, Jest and Cypress.
- Design, make and test your solutions on our systems with real users against performance specifications.
Requirements
Essential skills:
- Minimum BEng/BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or Scientific field.
- 5+ years professional software development experience building and testing data heavy web applications.
- Experience building custom components with fullstack development, preferably using a Linux (Ubuntu) environment.
- Experience in Python or Node (or any newer flavours like Nest.js or Next.js)
- Experience writing and automating tests for projects you support.
- Ability to collaborate with designers to find feasible solutions to challenging usability problems.
- Strong attention to design details when it comes to implementation and providing the best user experience.
Desirable skills:
- Ability to pick up designs from Figma or a similar design tool.
- Ability to develop, refine, and share components in a tool like Storybook.js.
- Experience with MongoDB.
- Experience with ROS 2.
