As an Applications Engineer, you will need to have/be:

Role of Applications Engineer:

As an Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering their connected hardware and software solutions to clients. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams including Product, Engineering, Technical Support, and Field Services, as well as with customers and third-party providers to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.

Your key responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of the MaxConnex camera platform and associated telematics integrations across various customer environments.
• Serve as the primary delivery contact for customers, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and post-implementation support.
• Define project scope, success criteria, and key deliverables; create detailed project plans and ensure milestones are met.
• Work closely with supply chain, technical teams, and installers to coordinate stock, hardware configuration, and on-site deployments.
• Identify potential delivery risks and proactively mitigate them through planning and escalation.
• Maintain oversight of ongoing deployments, tracking progress and performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs.
• Facilitate regular check-ins, stakeholder updates, and delivery reviews with internal and external teams.
• Champion continuous improvement, capturing lessons learned and feeding insights back into the service and product offerings.

Our client requires an application engineer to work on proposals and applications within their business in the South Lincolnshire area.

As an applications engineer you will be working on enquiries from customers who need equipment and selecting the most appropriate items for their needs. This role may include some occasional international travel, when needed.

This position is part of a fast response department which will result in some international travel, sometimes at short notice to support the customer on site.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience in the flare manufacturing and combustion sector.

Objective:

Responsibilities: 

< i>Define Project Scope and Objectives – Work alongside Sales and Process team to establish clear goals and design requirements for a particular project. Gather Basic Design Data – Basic design data, process, and performance parameters. This maybe from review of client documentation or meetings with the client, be that face to face or via MS Teams, or handed over from Sales team. < i>Process flow diagrams (PFDs) – Flowcharts that describe the major processes and equipment, etc. These can be produced by you or, can be produced by CAD team, under your guidance and with the assistance of the Sales and Process Teams. < i>Develop the Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) – Identify control systems, valves, and piping configurations. This will be a collaborative effort between the Process Team, Sales Team and you. Following this, prepare an equipment list. < i>Material & Energy Balances – Input-output relationships/efficiency of the process. This is the responsibly of the Process team, however, the ability to understand these will be a benefit. < i>Design Equipment Specifications – Define mechanical and operational details for the major equipment. This is a major part of this role. The ability to extract the correct requirements for a particular piece of equipment, prepare an enquiry to our suppliers, then scrutinize their quotations to ensure compliance with the project standards is very important. < i>Provide feedback to various departments — Include standards that must be met, operational best practices (e.g. Provide the Design team with any equipment installation requirements to include in the layout) and be proactive in taking any ‘lessons learned’ forward to new projects.
• P epare Documentation & Review – Assemble the pack of completed information to hand over to the Project Managers when the project moves from a bid to a contract.
< i>Cost estimation (In-house and sub-suppliers quotations).  li>Potentially attend bid clarification and offsite meetings with clients in a supporting role.

Requirements: 

li>Degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (BEng or MEng).
