An urgent contract requirement for an Application Engineer to join a leading London Market insurance business and be  responsible for the maintenance, environment design, implementation, documentation, and health monitoring of business applications and their underlying platform technologies used within the UK/EU region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement business application environment solutions, documenting the solution fully end to end.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support and troubleshooting assistance to the application support team and the wider IT team to identify and rectify system errors, performance issues and/or bottlenecks.
  • Work with IT delivery teams to develop and test application enhancements using appropriate lower environments.
  • Evaluate application environment architecture and infrastructure to identify necessary upgrades and improvements to meet compatibility and obsolescence objectives.
  • Document and track all work from inception to completion, maintaining accurate records and providing performance metrics to line management.
  • Prepare change records and deploy approved changes to system configurations and application builds. Provide requirements and instructions to other members of the IT team where required.
  • Assist with evidence gathering and documentation for internal or external audits. Ensure logging and audit records are maintained and available with suitable retention policies applied.
  • Identify and present to management opportunities for innovation and risk mitigation within the technical stack, including but not limited to new logging and reporting methods, technical tools and improvements to existing tools.
  • Ensure standardised Group IT procedures and controls are upheld, maintained, and regularly reviewed to align with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines, protecting the Company against security breaches, financial crime, and matters surrounding intellectual property rights.

Key Skills / Experience

  • Over 5 years’ experience in a customer-facing IT system administration role.
  • Previous experience in roles within the London insurance market.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft application technologies, including SQL Server, IIS, and .NET.
  • Familiar with IT best practices and tools (e.g., service desk and release management platforms).
  • Experience in risk management and control design/monitoring

Our client is an established and well respected manufacturing company. Currently recruiting an Application Engineer, to help facilitate new and tailor existing solutions to their clients’ needs and objectives. This is a full-time, permanent position, based on site at their North Yorkshire office.

Application Engineer – Key Responsibilities

Application Engineer’s play a critical role in providing expertise and support to our client’s customers. Throughout a customer’s journey, the Application Engineer will coordinate with internal and external colleagues and departments to tailor existing products into solutions that meet agreed objectives and expectations.

  • Interfacing with our client’s UK & International sales team. As the Application Engineer, you may be needed to support sales in accurately and effectively capturing the customer’s requirements from a technical perspective which will help create a technical concept. The successful completion of this phase will allow the business to plan effectively.
  • Once a sales order has been placed, the Application Engineer will be required to translating a customer’s technical concept into a tangible solution, supporting the implementation process, liaise with cross-functional teams to allow the manufacturing or procurement teams to fulfil the necessary activities, and provide technical oversight and sign-off of any mass-production or solution.
  • Once the solution has been manufactured, the Application Engineer may be required to provide technical customer support to internal and external functions, such as: customer’s production lines, quality assurance, etc. 
  • On occasion, the successful candidate will be required to travel to client site to answer technical queries or review product implementation.

Throughout this whole process, you will be focused on ensuring our client’s solutions are, of high quality and meet all safety standards, can be delivered to agreed timeframes and are within customers agreed budget.

Application Engineer – Candidate

  • STEM related Degree is preferred
  • Understanding of Automotive, mechanical, and electrical engineering domains
  • CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks skills designing mechanical or electrical solutions.
  • Be an effective communicator who is comfortable liaising with customers to better understand their ‘pain points’ and identify best fit solution.
  • With strong Microsoft skills, able to create detailed and presentable customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Able to understand commercial and engineering drivers and constraints

The Application Engineer position is offering £35,000 - £45,000 basic sal y plus great benefits. This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm based at our client’s North Yorkshire office.
