Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.
The role of Kitchen Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.
This role is to work 35 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 days, 11.30am - 7pm.
What you will be doingYou will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our customers, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. Your core duties will involve:
- Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment
- Preparing and arranging food counters and dining areas, ready for service
- Serving hot & cold food and beverages
- Operating the till and cashing up when required
You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team. You will need:
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification)
- Great communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Willing to undertake appropriate training (e.g., Supervision, NVQ Training)

To wash, sterilise and store crockery, cutlery and other equipment in the appropriate manner

Role is based at Washington Community Resource Centre NE38
The Kitchen Assistant will support the Assistant Cook and Cook in their roles to prepare nutritionally balanced meals to vulnerable adults who attend the day service.
The services operate 5 days per week, and the successful applicant would be required to work 9am - 3pm each day at Washington Community Resource Centre.
We are looking for suitably qualified/experienced staff with an immediate start date.
It is essential that you have the following skills and attributes:
