Brakes are now recruiting for an on-site Canteen Cook to join the Team in our Ashford, Kent office.
Reporting into the Facilities Team Leader, you'll effectively manage the running of the canteen style restaurant for our colleagues on-site whilst maintaining the highest possible levels of cleanliness and hygiene aligned to our company's health & safety policy. You'll ensure our internal and external users have the necessary kitchen support for food shows and presentations as well be in charge for creating the restaurant menu and dietary requirements for over 100 colleagues per day.
This role is being offered on a full-time and permanent basis with a salary of £27,000 per annum. The working hours are Monday - Friday with shift between 07:00 - 15:00 (no bank holidays).
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities -
- Control of Kitchen
- Ability to create, cook and present menus for high volume and buffets
- Create cleaning schedule for all Kitchen areas
- Understanding of current food trends
- Understanding of allergens and allergen control
- Product/food Delivery Checks & Storage
- Stock rotation & surplus stock process/management
- Manage the day-to-day running of the Kitchen,
- Lease with the facilities manager on all food-related matters
- On-site contact for all Kitchen enquiries
- Fridge/Freezer daily temp checks - record
- Support & liaise with FOH on-site
You'll be an experienced Chef with experience working in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment in a similar role. Experience of managing food safety protocols and hygiene is essential. Someone with strong planning and organisational skills is required with the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment. Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues at all levels and PC literate (Outlook / Word / Excel) is required. NVQ / City & Guilds training within Catering and Food Handlers hygiene certificate is advantageous, although not essential.
