Title: Electronics Lab Technician - Soldering & Testing

Summary
This position is primarily responsible for the electrical R&D lab soldering, rework, and testing related to new and existing Electromechanical medical devices.
This position will be required to understand, set-up, perform and monitor electronic testing activities with minimal guidance.
Principal Accountabilities
This position will be the primary soldering and rework expert for the electrical lab.
The candidate must have extensive experience hand-soldering SMT components as small as 0201 and 0.5mm pitch packages as well as BGA with hot air and outer layer modifications and repair of printed circuit board wiring.
Will execute electrical test procedures at the system and board levels using a variety of test equipment including but not limited to DMMs, DC power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and scales.
Will monitor automated testing and report on status with limited data analysis and interpretation.
Goal to expand the position to include test case writing depending on the candidate.
Work with other lab staff and engineers to keep the lab organized and maintained.
Will take direction from engineering manager, lab supervisor and Test Engineers on safe working procedures, use of equipment, recording of test data, and monitoring of results.
Experience with Altium or other PCBA layout tool (viewing not creating) to identify physical connections and component placement for rework is a plus.

The GED mechanical maintenance team provides expert technical support to the GED state-of-the-art engine test facility to ensure quality data output is maintained. The team has responsibility for the manufacture, implementation and upgrade of test facility support systems and rigs to assist in engine development and verification. The team is additionally responsible for commissioning the multi-million pound engine test facility, which has world-class performance, emissions and mechanical validation capabilities. Team members interact with the wider facilities team as well as other departments within GED and the Industrial Power Systems Development Engineers.

Waste Lab Sampling Technician
Key Accountabilities:
Reception of Tankered trade and domestic waste loads at sewage treatment works to include:
• Ensuring that simple lab analysis is conducted on samples prior to acceptance.
• Ensuring that all appropriate paperwork and electronic records (inc Duty of Care and transportation) is completed and dealt with appropriately.
• Ensure the process for acceptance or rejection of loads based upon procedures is performed consistently & effectively to protect STWs assets & processes.
• Operate the waste discharge tanks onsite, calculating discharge rates in line with site performance.
• Liaise with site operational staff on a daily basis.
• Frequently work from multiple STW locations to perform the duties required related to Tankered Waste operations (e.g. receive loads, collect samples and paperwork, attend meetings, etc).
• Record & compile data, produce reports and support the delivery of relevant SLA’s / KPIs and requirements of the Tankered Waste Team & Manager.
• Work in other sampling duties as required such as for domestic waste.
Experience:
In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:
• New Entrant Position, experience of working in the water or waste industry is advantageous however the required training shall be provided.
• Knowledge/Experience of IT systems including Microsoft Word, Excel is advantageous.
• An awareness of the water or waste industry and wastewater processes is highly beneficial.
Experience of customer interaction and/or tanker drivers would be advantageous.
Capabilities:
In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:
• Ability to work unsupervised and manage competing requirements and activities to complete required tasks while providing high levels of customer service.
• Capable of following a number of predefined processes but also showing an attention to detail and an interest in demonstrating an ability to continually seek to improve processes.
• Ability to effectively deal with customers/drivers on site as well as integrate into the site operational teams.
• Ability to work effectively with site operations & network control.
• Able to work on a flexible shift pattern between 7am – 7pm, covering Monday – Friday (37.5 hours) with additional Saturdays on occasion.
Ability to drive and work on other sites within the Severn Trent area to cover annual leave and undertake additional sampling requirements as needed.

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician on a 15-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) to join our Development team in Nottingham. This onsite role supports lab operations and scientific development, contributing to our mission of transforming cancer diagnostics.
You will help maintain equipment, manage stock, and assist scientists with experiments in proteomic immunoassays, while ensuring accurate record-keeping in line with ISO 13485 standards. This role reports to the Lab Operations Manager and is onsite at our Nottingham, UK, laboratories.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, calibrate, and clean lab equipment (e.g., autoclave, pH meter, balances, plate washers)
- Carry out routine lab maintenance: glassware washing, legionella prevention, lab coat cleaning

- Prepare reagents/buffers and maintain reliable batch records
- Receive goods, manage stock, and order consumables/reagents
- Handle and store human serum samples safely
