CyanoCapture is a VC-backed biotech company at the forefront of bioengineering and carbon utilisation. The company is using a recently discovered fast-growing photosynthetic bacteria that can rapidly absorb CO2 and convert this into peptides, enzymes and drug molecules of interest. The company is scaling up its proof-of-concept work to pilot trials in the US, India and Canada in 2026. The first-of-a-kind technology has raised more than $4.5m from VCs along with an additional $5m in grants from Shell, Elon Musk's XPRIZE and Innovate UK.
We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to facilitate the smooth running of the lab and play a critical supporting role for our scientists to succeed in their work. The candidate must be enthusiastic, possess a can-do attitude and strive to excel in every aspect of their job.
Responsibilities:
- Ordering of equipment, consumables and reagents, receiving and cataloging goods, maintaining order log, chasing suppliers and logging of invoices.
- Organise smooth running of the laboratory.
- Maintain and update laboratory chemical/ reagent inventories
- Preparation of stock solutions, cell culture media and agar plates
- Autoclaving and disposal of laboratory waste
- Arranging calibration, repair and servicing of laboratory equipment
- Maintaining stocks of clean, sterile glassware and plasticware
- Provide support to the engineering team by monitoring gas cylinders, photosynthetic bioreactors and incubator electronics.
Qualifications and Essential Skills:
- 3 + years experience in a laboratory technician or similar role
- Familiarity with working in a scientific laboratory
- Good aseptic technique
- Ideally suit a candidate looking for a routine based part-time role (e.g. daily 9 am - 2 pm)
- Right to work in the UK (we are unable to support a Visa application or sponsorship)
