Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specialized cleaning of laboratory benches, equipment, floors, and common areas according to strict protocols.
- Ensure the safe handling, segregation, and disposal of laboratory waste, including biological, chemical, and sharps waste, in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in all assigned laboratory spaces.
- Operate and maintain specialized cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Restock cleaning supplies and manage inventory.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or discrepancies to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow specific cleaning schedules and task lists to ensure all areas are covered.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and periodic site sanitation as required.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities and waste disposal.
- Previous experience as a cleaner, with specific experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or sterile environment strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations relevant to laboratory cleaning.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and cleaning protocols meticulously.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and lifting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe use.
- Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations is beneficial.
