Senior Legal Counsel

Based in either London or Leeds

Hybrid working (2 days in the office per week)

£100K base + 6K car allowance

The role

• Providing commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of projects ensuring compliance with applicable law.
• Reviewing, negotiating and/or drafting agreements and conducting contract negotiations with project counterparties primarily for constru.

Currently recruiting for a rare and exciting opportunity to join a top-tier US firm, as it expands its non-contentious construction practice in London.

The team is led by a recognised partner and already ranked in L500 & Chambers for advising sponsors, lenders, and contractors on high-value international infrastructure and energy transition projects. With a strong focus on front-end construction and project development, the practice is known for its deep expertise in EPC contracts and its ability to navigate large-scale deals. As part of a high-performing lean team, you will gain exposure to a variety of sectors including, renewables, LNG, battery gigafactories, and digital infrastructure.

This role stands out for its high-profile , cross-border work, multijurisdictional exposure, and clear promotional trajectory; all within a team that maintains a more balanced approach to target hours than typically seen at US firms.

Requirements :

• UK or Common law Qualified Associates with specific non-contentious construction experience
• Between two and fixe years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with appropriate discounts for those not UK-qualified
• A genuine interest in specialising in non-contentious construction and infrastructure work
• Strong drafting skills, particularly in relation to EPC and other project development contracts

The position offers great exposure to a broad range of non-contentious construction matters, working with institutional investors, developers, funds and government bodies on major mixed-use, commercial, residential and infrastructure schemes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of transactional construction advice on landmark projects, including regeneration schemes, build-to-rent and logistics developments.

Key Requirements:

• Qualified solicitor with strong academic background.
• Experience in non-contentious construction law from a leading law firm.
• Familiarity with JCT contracts (NEC experience is desirable).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across offices and with clients.
