Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of innovative digital products from concept through to production
- Design and build scalable, containerised software solutions that incorporate data science components
- Make architectural decisions around tooling, frameworks, and development approaches
- Work with DevOps practices including Docker, Terraform, and cloud deployment (Azure preferred)
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders

Technical Experience

- Exposure to Jupyter notebooks , and understanding of how machine learning models are developed and deployed
- Experience in fast-paced or start-up environments where you’ve contributed across the stack
- Degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, AI)
- Previous experience in data science or BI analytics is beneficial - particularly if you’ve moved into engineering
- Bonus: awareness of modern AI tooling (e.g., LLMs, Hugging Face) and an enthusiasm to apply this in real-world products

About the roleThe Lead Data Scientist is a senior technical leader at CF, responsible for driving data science strategy and innovation in line with company goals. The Lead Data Scientist oversees the development and implementation of data-driven solutions that enhance our service offerings and ways of working. They apply evaluation approaches and ensure these solutions deliver quantifiable impact, drive efficiencies and optimise value for money for our clients and for CF. About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Faculty as the most senior data scientist in its recently formed Professional and Financial Services Team. As the Lead Data Scientist, you’ll have an opportunity to shape a technical vision and guide the senior and junior data scientists on your team. Working collaboratively, you will oversee project teams that deliver high-impact AI solutions that are differentiated and compelling. You will also lead project teams delivering enterprise-scale applications for a range of clients, including major banks, asset managers, insurers, law firms, and B2B services.
Maintaining ownership of the data science approach, you will own the technical vision for your projects, partner directly with clients to shape strategy, and play a crucial part in mentoring the next generation of data science talent at Faculty.
What you'll be doing
Project Leadership:
Guide the technical delivery of custom data science solutions for clients, from initial discovery to deployment in production
Own the end-to-end data science approach, designing and implementing the appropriate techniques - from classic to AI agents using LLMs - that are designed, optimised and applied at scale
Design robust and scalable software architecture for the solutions you build, ensuring best practices in engineering and MLOps are followed.
Partner with our commercial team and clients to build strong relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
Articulate intricate technical concepts and strategic decisions clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, from client-side engineers to C-suite executives.
Team Mentorship:
Formally manage and mentor a number of data scientists, taking responsibility for their career progression and professional growth.
Provide targeted technical support and learning opportunities for data scientists on your project teams.
Contribute to sustaining our culture, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and setting a high standard for performance and technical excellence.
Technical Leadership
Establish a distinct and differentiated data science vision for professional and financial services, and communicate that vision through external thought leadership and in potential client presentations.
Partner with our commercial team to ensure potential projects and programmes of work are appropriately resourced, balancing client delivery, colleague wellbeing, and commercial imperatives.
Keep abreast of the latest technical and technology advancements, share these with others in the organisation, and identify how they can help drive Faculty forward.
Who we're looking for
You have deep technical expertise in machine learning and a command of diverse methodologies, with a solid grasp of data science and statistical techniques, for example: supervised/unsupervised machine learning, model cross-validation, Bayesian inference, and time-series analysis
An excellent proficiency of the basic libraries for data science (e.g. NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn) and familiarity with a deep-learning framework (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
Demonstrable experience enabling impactful change with AI within a financial services institution. Coupling that with prior experience in consulting would be a bonus.
You possess proven experience leading data science projects and making key decisions on technical direction and architecture.
You are an exceptional communicator, capable of building rapport with clients and translating complex ideas into clear, actionable insights.
You have a strategic mindset, with a grasp on key financial services sector trends that informs a compelling technical vision.
You are passionate about developing people and have experience mentoring or managing other technical professionals.
You are motivated to contribute to the wider data science community. We will actively support you in building your professional profile by speaking at major conferences, delivering courses, or contributing to open-source projects.

About the role
We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Data Scientist for our team! Ideally, this role will suit someone with a proven background in building models in credit, lending, or other areas of financial services. Lendable is the market leader in real rate risk-based pricing, offering consumers transparency and product assurance at the point of application. Data Science sits at the heart of this USP, developing the credit risk models to underwrite loan and credit card products.
You will experiment with the latest machine learning techniques combined with a rich data repository to build and deploy best-in-market risk models.
This role will primarily focus on our UK Cards business, but through team collaboration, you will be exposed to all areas of Lendable. Our team keeps up with the latest advancements in the industry through regular journal clubs.
Our team’s objectives
The data science team develops proprietary machine learning models combining state-of-the-art techniques with a variety of data sources that inform scorecard development and risk management, optimise marketing and pricing, and improve operations efficiency.
Research new data sources and unstructured data representation.
Data scientists work across the business in a multidisciplinary capacity to identify issues, translate business problems into data questions, analyse and propose solutions.
Deliver data services to a wide variety of stakeholders by engineering CLI programs / APIs.
Design, implement, manage and evaluate experiments of products and services leading to constant innovation and improvement.
How you’ll impact those objectives
Use your expertise to build and deploy models that contribute to the success of the business
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and proactively propose new approaches and projects that drive innovation.
Learn the domain of products that Lendable serves, understanding the data that informs strategy and risk modelling.
Extract, parse, clean and transform data for use in machine learning.
Clearly communicate results to stakeholders through verbal and written communication.
Mentor other data scientists and promote best practices throughout the team and business
Key Skills
Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their respective pros and cons.
Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely
Proficiency with creating ML models in Python with experiment tracking tools, such as MLFlow.
Curiosity, creativity, resourcefulness and a collaborative spirit
Interest in problems related to the financial services domain - a knowledge of Credit Cards is advantageous
Confident communicator and contributes effectively within a team environment
Experience mentoring or leading others

About the role:
As our Lead Data Scientist , you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering data-driven solutions that power our regulatory scanning, analytics, and generative AI capabilities.
You’ll take ownership of complex data science problems end-to-end, from framing business challenges with stakeholders, to deploying production-ready solutions. We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, takes initiative, and delivers measurable results.
Working closely with the Head of Regulatory Scanning and CTO, you will help define the long-term data science strategy, set technical direction, and ensure scalable, best-practice deployment across our products. You will also act as a mentor and coach to junior data scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of experimentation, quality, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven expertise in data processing and content generation at scale, particularly within AWS environments.
- A track record of leading teams, influencing stakeholders, and delivering impactful ML and analytics solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance hands-on technical delivery and strategic leadership.
- Proven ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously, adapting quickly to changing priorities and collaborating across teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, defining problems as well as solving them.
Key Responsibilities:

Data Modeling, Gen-AI and Predictive Analytics
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines for ingesting and processing large volumes of regulatory data from diverse sources, both structured and unstructured.
- Develop models for data categorization and content generation, as well as methods to cluster, store and surface data insights captured.
- Ensure the accuracy, quality, and relevance of data insights captured can be monitored and assessed, refining methods for prioritising based on customer impact.
- Leverage predictive analytics to identify emerging regulatory trends and potential future changes, creating models to forecast the impact of regulatory changes on different industries and jurisdictions
Leadership and Strategy:
- Provide strategic direction and technical guidance for data science initiatives working closely with the Head of Regulatory Scanning.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and compliance teams to translate business needs into data science solutions that are scalable, measurable, and aligned to commercial outcomes.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers and regulatory analysts to integrate solutions into Vixio’s tech stack.
- Own the lifecycle of solutions, from problem definition through to measurement of business impact.
- Mentor and develop analysts and data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years experience in Data Science, leading and developing new initiatives to drive transformation and/or efficiency in RegTech, FinTech, or other related industries.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
- Hands-on proficiency with AWS cloud platform solutions and the challenges and opportunities around ML model management.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database management, as well as programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
- Strong experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) as well as familiarity with data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
