In the Financial Crime Solutions team at Mastercard, we build and deliver products and services powered by payments data to find and stop financial crime. Role
As a Data Scientist, you will join one of the first teams in the world looking at payments data in the UK and across the world. In the research discipline you will help build systems that expose money laundering and detect fraud as well as work with the other data scientists and clients to understand the underlying behaviours employed by criminals. You will be product focused, working in close collaboration with our engineering and operations data scientists as well as the wider sales, consulting, and product teams.
In this position, you will:
- Perform proof-of-concept projects, engage in product design and build prototypes.
- Use the full range of data science based techniques to develop new and novel algorithms to aid existing and new financial crime products.
- Be able to perform novel research to help us and our clients understand the different criminal behaviours in payments data.
- Think about how derived insights can be turned into new products and services we can offer to external clients.
- Be ready to learn new technologies as required and engage with legacy and future technology stacks, in the UK and internationally.
- Write white papers, patents, and client facing data visualisations.

Skills Required

Cisco wasn't immune and saw a sharp increase in backlogs, inventory levels, and supply chain costs. The Forecasting Data Science Team within Global Planning is solving this by using Causal AI to redefine Demand Forecasting and its Enterprise impact. We're working to provide breakthrough levels of regime-resilient forecast accuracy, efficiency, and prescriptive insights that enable decision makers across Cisco and its Supply Chain to plan effectively.

**Your Impact**
You will bring your skills, experience, and innovation to play a significant role in shaping our Causal AI-based forecasting system to improve decision making and drive operational performance and efficiency across Cisco's Enterprise and Supply Chain functions.
**You Will**
+ Develop, evolve, and sustain key elements of the Causal-AI based Forecasting system for Aggregated Demand.
+ Analyze and sharpen the causal consideration of global financial markets, macro-economics, micro-economic and competitive factors in the Demand Forecasting models.
+ Engineer model features from broad internal and external structured and unstructured datasets, discover and improve the natural segmentation for Demand based on these factors, determine causality of the factors, and incorporate them into structural causal models.
+ Develop high-quality, accurate models that are robust and have a long shelf life.
+ Solve complicated research problems that push the boundaries of structural causal modelling and scale to Enterprise and Supply Chain business applications.
+ Work closely with business leads and experts in Global Planning, other Supply Chain functions, Finance, and other Cisco organizations to understand relationships and patterns driving Cisco demand.
+ Develop and evolve reliable approaches for uncertainty quantification to enable scenario/range forecasts
+ Research and develop new methods to reconcile between forecasts at multiple product hierarchy levels, multiple time horizons, and different forecasting approaches.

+ 6+ years of Advanced Analytics experience with a Masters Degree or 4+ years with a PhD in a Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Econometrics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

**The Role**
Proofpoint is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist to join the Algo team within the Tessian Business Unit. In this role, your key responsibility will be to analyse data, build ML models and improve algorithms at the core of our email threat detection engine that protects some of the largest businesses in the world. You will collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to identify and solve the most impactful problems applying state-of-the-art machine learning tools and techniques. You'll be surrounded by incredibly smart, talented and friendly colleagues. Engineers at Tessian love to learn from each other and pull together as a team to succeed.
*This is a Hybrid role; Cork or Belfast.
**Your day-to-day**
-Wrangle and draw meaningful insights from massive amounts of unstructured textual data using the latest tools and technologies like Spark, Iceberg, Athena, AWS SageMaker
-Apply unsupervised learning algorithms across billions of email interactions to identify emerging threat patterns
-Work with state-of-the-art machine learning models and techniques like encoder-decoder transformers, LLMs, anomaly detection as well as classical ML models to solve a multifaceted problem
-Engineer new features, train and deploy models to production using AWS SageMaker as the MLOps platform
-Adopt a data-driven approach to identify gaps in our detection algorithms and propose improvements to our models and algorithms
-Promote and drive ML best practices and cultivate an environment of experimentation and learning
-Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI technologies, and incorporate them into our solutions where applicable
**What you bring to the team**
Essential
- Proficiency in Python with the ability to write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code for data analysis, modeling and experimentation
- Experience contributing to multiple highly impactful machine learning projects with proven results
-Hands-on experience in the NLP domain involving training, fine-tuning and productionising transformer-based models for text classification / text-embeddings (experience with LLMs, generative AI is a plus)
-Experience monitoring and maintaining performance of models over time in production considering model/data drifts In-depth experience with one or more deep neural network frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow, JAX)
-A creative mindset, propensity to care deeply about the impact their team has and to encourage novel ways of critical thinking in their team
Good to have
-Conceptual understanding of Graph Neural Networks and experience applying GNNs to solve real world problem statements will be a plus
-Experience working on large imbalanced datasets, evaluating and selecting models that work well in production on imbalanced real-world data
