For 30 years we’ve been creating incredible video games at our multiple studios, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
We are on the lookout for a Lead VFX Artist to join our passionate and growing VFX team to work on an upcoming unannounced project at the early stages of development.
The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects developed in Rebellions games. Not only particle effects, but screen post effects, material effects, mesh destruction effects and UI effects developed in Rebellions propriety engine “Asura”.
You'll play a pivotal role in shaping project-specific processes and delivering industry-leading VFX for exciting new titles, giving you a direct influence on the construction and pipeline requirements.

Responsibilities
- Contribute significantly to the successful execution of high-quality VFX tasks.
- Stay organized and be proactive in developing VFX project documentation.
- Develop key VFX concepts to effectively communicate the visual direction of the game.
- Assist in creating a comprehensive template library of assets for use by other development team members.
- Produce a collection of VFX benchmark assets, complete with thorough documentation to support your team.
- Act as a mentor to help onboard new team members efficiently.
- Maintain high team morale and serve as a positive role model for seniors, regulars, and juniors within the team.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- 3D Studio Max
- Maya
- Word document creation
- Blender
- Additional VFX tools (Unreal/Unity/Proprietary)
- Photoshop
- Simulation software (like EmberGen, Houdini, Cinema 4D, etc.)
- After Effects
- Confluence document editing
- Possess a deep understanding of hardware limitations to minimize optimization needs throughout a project.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. You should be comfortable reaching out to other departments for information and collaborating to find solutions to challenges.
- Expertise in crafting real-time VFX assets, along with an advanced knowledge of VFX shaders and the corresponding maps.
- Embrace a research-driven mindset and stay updated with emerging technologies and processes in the industry—better yet, innovate your own!
- Have a comprehensive understanding of real-world pyrotechnics and other natural effects, with a keen sense of weight, timing, and scale.
