Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas related to digital learning, educational technology, and online pedagogy.
- Conduct impactful research in the field of digital learning technologies, publishing in reputable journals and presenting at international conferences.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative digital learning environments and resources.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance on the adoption and effective use of learning management systems (LMS), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) in education, and other emerging technologies.
- Develop and deliver training workshops and professional development programs for academic staff on digital pedagogy and technology integration.

- Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement, ensuring alignment with current best practices in digital education.
- Supervise postgraduate research students undertaking projects in related fields.
- Stay abreast of current research, trends, and developments in educational technology and online learning.
- Contribute to the administrative and strategic planning of the department and the wider university.
- A PhD in Education, Educational Technology, Computer Science with an education focus, or a related discipline.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals and conferences.
- Significant experience in teaching and curriculum development within a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in a range of digital learning technologies, including LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas), online assessment tools, multimedia production, and emerging technologies like AI, VR, and AR in education.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and secure research funding.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in leading educational technology initiatives or managing academic development programmes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience in supervising postgraduate students.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive and engaging digital learning experiences.

Job Description
The Head of Department will be responsible for setting the vision for digital education, managing a team of specialists, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies. You will work closely with academic departments, IT services, and external vendors to ensure the seamless integration and effective utilisation of learning management systems (LMS), online collaboration tools, and other digital resources. A key aspect of this role involves staying ahead of emerging trends in educational technology and ensuring our client remains at the forefront of digital learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Digital Learning Technologies department.
- Oversee the management and enhancement of the institution's Learning Management System (LMS) and other key digital learning platforms.
- Lead and mentor a team of instructional designers, educational technologists, and support staff.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the effective and ethical use of digital learning technologies.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to design and deliver innovative online and blended learning experiences.
- Manage the budget for digital learning technologies, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Evaluate and recommend new educational technologies to meet evolving institutional needs.
- Ensure the accessibility and inclusivity of digital learning resources for all students.
- Oversee user support and training programs for students and staff on digital learning tools.
- Represent the department on relevant institutional committees and working groups.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is advantageous.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in managing digital learning technologies within an educational setting, with proven leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) and a broad understanding of current educational technology trends.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans for technology adoption in education.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and team leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in instructional design principles and online pedagogy is highly desirable.
- Commitment to promoting digital inclusion and accessibility in education.
