Your new firm Our client is a Top 20 law firm with offices across the globe. They are currently recruiting Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives or Experienced Paralegals to join their market-leading Fraud team nationwide. This role offers office-based, hybrid or remote working, but you will need to come into their Birmingham office once a month or for training and client events as required. Your new role The firm has roles available across their Motor, Casualty and Vehicle Hire teams at different levels, with work including defending and investigating exaggerated claims, fabricated claims, fabricated accident circumstances, substituted injury, staged accidents and organised fraud. You will be speaking with clients and interviewing witnesses, analysing evidence and asking questions of experts, instructing their intelligence team to conduct investigations and considering sanctions to include recovery of costs, injunctions, committal proceedings and police referrals. You will be responsible for a caseload of predominantly litigated claims, with an appropriate level of supervision, potentially across a number of different clients. These claims will all have fraud concerns and be managed under Delegated and Non-Delegated authority agreements. The Fraud team is a specialised multiple award-winning and dynamic team defending both pre-litigated and litigated technical claims. It has a reputation for robustly defending fraud insurance claims and proactively tackling those organisations and professional enablers driving the claims, particularly within their projects and organised fraud specialisms. The team adopts a collaborative approach where both reactive and proactive investigation is promoted, working hand in hand with their clients and law enforcement agencies such as IFED and the new Regional Fraud teams. Their leadership team comprises Associates, Legal Directors and Partners who are very experienced and well-respected by clients and who will help to support you to succeed. Their work has resulted in a number of outstanding successes for their clients, including findings of fundamental dishonesty in civil courts, committals to prison for contempt of court, appeal wins, police referrals and remedies for recovery of costs. What you'll need to succeed You will be a solicitor, chartered legal executive or experienced paralegal with a sound knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. You will ideally have defendant EL/PL, RTA or credit hire experience; some experience of fraud would be beneficial, but is not essential, as the successful candidate will be fully trained to appropriately defend fraudulent insurance claims. You will have experience of handling litigated files, preferably gained within a personal injury environment. What you'll get in return This is a great opportunity to join a top firm where you can enjoy the flexibility of remote working and a competitive salary. Training will be provided. The role offers high levels of flexibility and a great work-life balance, a well-rounded remuneration package (which includes private medical insurance, income protection insurance and discounted gym membership, amongst many other benefits) and opportunities for growth and progression, including professional funding. Wollaston, West Midlands Scott Bader

Job Description

You might not expect a global chemical manufacturer to be anything but corporate, but we’re different. As an employee-owned business with strong community values, we’re based in a beautiful Grade 2 listed manor house (with an on-site swimming pool!). We’re looking for a full or part-time lawyer to join our friendly legal team and help us keep everything running smoothly in this unique organisation.

As a member of our Legal Team, you will play a critical role in enabling Scott Bader to meet its strategic and operational objectives while ensuring legal and regulatory risks are managed effectively. This is a varied role covering commercial law, compliance, regulatory matters, dispute resolution, and corporate legal support in a global context.

You'll work closely with teams across the global organisation, providing pragmatic legal guidance that supports our values-driven approach. This is an opportunity to not only provide high-quality legal support but to actively shape how legal services are delivered and valued throughout the organisation.

This is a hybrid role, giving you the flexibility to work in a way that suits you. We do, however, believe there’s real value in spending time together in person, so we ask that you join us in the office at least one day a week. It’s a great opportunity to build strong relationships with your new colleagues and experience the unique setting we’re proud of.

Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Provide commercially focused legal advice across the global business to support informed and balanced decision-making.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts including supply, service, consultancy, IT/SaaS, distribution, licensing and collaboration agreements.
  • Advise on legal compliance across key frameworks including data protection, anti-bribery, competition law, and export controls.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in R&D, commercial and operational teams to protect intellectual property and mitigate legal risks.
  • Instruct, manage, and oversee external legal counsel efficiently, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal advice
  • Contribute to legal department initiatives, knowledge sharing, and the delivery of legal training across the business.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

  • A qualified lawyer
  • A background in commercial law, ideally with some in-house experience.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • We understand that candidates may not meet every requirement listed above. This description outlines the broad scope of the role and the types of matters you may encounter. If you believe this role aligns with your interests and experience — even if you don’t tick every box — we encourage you to reach out for a conversation. A resourceful mindset, strong judgment, and a collaborative, can-do attitude are often just as important as technical expertise.

What’s in it for me?

  • A competitive salary alongside being included into our company bonus scheme. Our Group Staff Bonus & Profit Performance Pay bonus scheme reinforces the Scott Bader principle of working together for a common goal and sharing in our successes.
  • Enhanced employer contribution whereby Scott Bader will contribute a maximum of 2x your contribution, up to a maximum of 10%.
  • Private medical insurance alongside a host of further discounts and employee benefit schemes
  • 25 days annual leave entitlement plus
