Purpose of the Role
As part of the Lending Team, you will play a crucial role in the SPD Portfolio Monitoring Model (SPMM) extension project. Collaborating closely with Business SMEs, Business Analysts, IT partners, and vendors, you will help document business functional requirements and drive strategic decisions for successful project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Requirements Gathering:
- Lead the documentation of Day 1 business requirements in line with organisational guidelines.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure detailed requirements for translation into functional specifications.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Conduct workshops with senior stakeholders to align project goals and outcomes.
- Maintain regular communication, providing updates on progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Project Management:
- Monitor project progress, highlighting issues and dependencies.
- Work closely with business users across departments including Real Estate Finance and Corporate Banking.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree level education or relevant experience.
- Experience in leading workshops with senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Experience in transformation and change programmes in Lending, Credit, or Portfolio Management.
- Knowledge of project management, process mapping, and business requirements gathering.

Our client, a specialist mortgage lender is seeking an experienced underwriter. Their ultimate goals being, to become the main household name for lifetime and equity release lending and offering a first-class customer experience. This permanent role is ideal for a manual, mandated underwriter and with a new product on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to join the business.
Duties of the Mortgage Underwriter – Specialist lending include:
- Reviewing Mortgage applications against the Lending Policy to ensure robust underwriting decisions are made.
- Managing a portfolio of cases to completion.
- Working closely with Case Managers to gather all information from third parties.
- Speaking extensively to Brokers to allow cases to progress efficiently.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrable experience in underwriting through to completion of Equity Release, RIO or lifetime mortgage products.
- A manual, mandated underwriter with a background in specialist lending .
