4Recruitment Services are seeking  a Director of Public Health   on an interim basis for our client in West London.

The Director of Public Health is required to be a visible system leader in the councils  Health and Care Partnership (HHCP) and will contribute available resources directly under the DPH control and influence HHCP resource allocation to ensure that the local public health system proactively tackles the health, care and wider determinants that affect health and wellbeing in the councils communities. This will include working with local communities, to develop solutions in response to challenges that affect health and contribute to health inequalities.
  
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Delivering the councils  duties to protect and improve public health, and any functions and regulations to improve public health protection and health improvement delegated to the local authority by the Secretary of State
  • Being the chief officer and principal adviser for public health to the Council, system partners, and local communities, influencing policy and practice
  • Supporting the Chief Executive and Councillors in developing and delivering the Council’s strategic agenda and maintain their confidence, and the confidence of national, and regional partners
  • An effective role as statutory member of the Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board; to advise on the development of the Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy that sets out the priority assessed needs of the population, and for shaping the health and wellbeing agenda; using the national outcomes frameworks; public health, NHS and social care
  • Being an active participant at Place through strategic participation as a leader within HHCP, contributing and directing the priorities for population health improvement, influencing change and enabling a culture of continuous improvement in health and wellbeing, innovation and evaluation.
  • Exercising the functions of the Council to plan for, and respond to emergencies that present a risk to the publics’ health
  • Commissioning and the delivery of services which are effective, are value for money and meet quality standards.
  • Utilise the public health resources imaginatively and cost effectively across all domains of public health in order to improve health and wellbeing of local communities and reduce inequalities in health outcomes.
  • The Council’s role in co-operating with the police, the probation and the prison service to assess the risks posed by violent or sexual offenders
  • Producing an annual independent report on the health of the population and communities of the council, progress that demonstrates improving health and reducing inequalities and making recommendations that stimulates debate and/or action by the Council and partners
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List or UK Public Health Register(UKPHR)
  • If in the above Register / List in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience of public health medicine practice
  • Public health specialist registrar applicants who are not yet on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in dental public health/UKPHR must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry at the date of interview; all other applicants must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they have applied for inclusion in the GMC/GDC/UKPHR specialist registers
  • Minimum of three years’ experience of public health practice at senior level
  • Experience of working in complex political and social environments
  • High level of understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics and health care evaluation

+ Responsible for the delivery of Public Health and Fire Suppression systems designs at all RIBA Stages on projects
+ Supervising the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.
+ Considering the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
+ Taking responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.

+ Regularly briefing the project team, explaining the appointment. Ensure contracts / letters of intent are in place for all projects before work begins. Make sure all team members have access to the agreed appointment documents.

+ Leading the completion and regular amendment to the project 'Cost to Complete' (CTC). Monitor the work of the project engineers and compare weekly against the previously agreed CTC. Flag up any potential 'profit' or 'loss' to your DTL when compared to the agreed fee.

We're looking for **Graduate Public Health Engineer** to join our progressive, award-winning **Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team** in our London office, joining our 2026 Graduate Programme, where you'll be delivering sustainable projects for our communities, planet and society.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team which specialises in the delivery of building services, energy and sustainability services, where we offer a fresh approach by getting involved early, working collaboratively with the design team, guiding design development and using our expertise to help clients make key decisions - an approach that always results in a building that delivers.
As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing your expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment and will benefit from strong support from both office and technical colleagues, as well as significant guidance from senior staff within our open and collaborative culture.
**Your role:**
+ Using Revit and 3D BIM modelling software in design production
+ Design co-ordination with other professional disciplines
+ Developing energy modelling & compliance calculation of building performance (Part L / IES)
+ Energy Strategy Reports / Sustainability Statements for planning applications
+ Participating in design team and client meetings
+ Attending site visits
