Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and artistic lighting concepts that align with the director's vision and the overall production aesthetic.
- Create detailed lighting plots, cue sheets, and equipment specifications for each production.
- Oversee the implementation of lighting designs, including fixture placement, focusing, and programming of lighting consoles.
- Collaborate effectively with directors, scenic designers, costume designers, and other members of the creative team throughout the design process.
- Manage lighting budgets and ensure that designs are executed within financial constraints.
- Supervise and mentor lighting technicians and board operators during installation, focusing, and performance periods.
- Conduct site visits and technical rehearsals to troubleshoot and refine lighting cues.
- Source and manage rental equipment as needed, ensuring technical specifications are met.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest lighting technology, fixtures, control systems, and trends in stagecraft.
- Ensure all lighting designs comply with health and safety regulations and venue specifications.
- Contribute creative ideas during production meetings and contribute to the artistic direction of the organization.
- Manage relationships with equipment vendors and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional stage lighting design work for theatre, opera, dance, or large-scale events.
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in professional stage lighting design and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of lighting hardware, including LED technology, moving lights, conventional fixtures, and control systems (e.g., ETC Eos, GrandMA).
- Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., Vectorworks, Lightwright).
- Proven ability to interpret scripts and directorial concepts, translating them into effective visual designs.
- Excellent understanding of color theory, mood creation, and visual storytelling through light.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage complex schedules, and adapt to changing production needs.
- A degree in Theatre Design, Lighting Design, or a related field is preferred, but extensive professional experience will be considered.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by production schedules.

**Scope of the role:**
To prepare, install, operate & de-rig production equipment and undertake associated tasks, including specification and preparation of equipment, supervision of staff on site and acting as client/venue liaison where required.

**Main Responsibilities**
+ To be able to understand and interpret technical plans and direction by senior member of the team and carry out those tasks to the expected level
