We are passionate about producing and delivering the high quality entertainment that Butlin’s has become renowned for. The Technical Support Team are an integral part of the Entertainment Team providing support to in house and external shows alike. Great audio is important with any entertainment. Within Butlin’s our sound engineers require the skills to move from theatrical style spoken word, to a full band set.
Our team are looking for experience in live operating experience - sound engineer Alan and Heath desk knowledge preferred/desirable.
Working alongside a fantastic team, we will support you every step of the way to ensure you gain the skills and confidence to truly get stuck in.
Looking for progression? We have bags of opportunities to develop within our restaurant teams and across the wider Butlin’s business.
You must be flexible working across weekdays, weekends and evening.

The Gatehouse Theatre is a provincial theatre in the heart of Stafford. It has a busy received season showing a variety of Music, Comedy and Drama and is known for punching above it’s weight when it comes to produced shows. Currently the theatre produces 3 studio Youth theatre shows and 1 main house summer school per year, not forgetting it’s acclaimed annual Shakespeare show which attracts famous actors from around the world.

Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is looking to recruit a Senior Sound Technician with experience leading and being part of a theatre technical team. The role entails taking a hands-on approach towards supporting the technical department, to rig, operate and maintain all sound equipment. You will programme and operate sound for our produced shows, source music and SFX for shows as required, take ownership of the sound department and contribute to the safe and organised storage of all sound equipment.

Requirements
- Have a positive, can-do attitude towards work.
- Have a high level of customer service when meeting acts that the theatre presents
- on its stage
- Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative
- Have a genuine interest in theatre, the arts and/or music
- Be organised and responsible
- Possess a wish to positively contribute to the theatre and the technical team
- Have a desire to improve and learn new skills
- Experience mixing live bands and/or musicals
- Knowledge of microphone placement techniques
- Experience programming and operating Qlab
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Manual Handling experience
- Ability to work comfortably at height
- Ability to repair sound equipment
- Experience working in a producing theatre
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practises
- Working at heights trained
- First aid at work trained
- A degree or similar qualification in sound or a related subject

You’ll work closely with the rest of the QA Team, and other members of the Engineering Department, including Product and Project Managers, as well as Hardware, Software and Firmware Developers.
Key activities include:
- Supporting our existing users with testing for maintenance updates, as well as ensuring on-going compatibility with third party software and hardware releases
- Performing functional, non-functional, and exploratory testing on new products under development
- Helping to keep our automated test rigs running, responding to any issues with our systems to maximise uptime and test coverage
- Analysing test results and logs, including those from our automated test-runs, reporting any issues/patterns to the appropriate development teams
- Helping to validate that new technologies and product concepts are fit for purpose
An ideal candidate is likely to be:
- Working towards a degree-level qualification in science, engineering, technology, or related discipline
- Interested in quality, and able to appreciate what this means in practice to our users
- A clear communicator, methodical and rigorous, with a logical approach to problem solving
- Familiar with computers, and the use of Command Line Interfaces. Basic scripting ability and an interest in programming would also be an advantage

Responsibilities:
- You will be required to update/ action incidents as they come in and following troubleshooting reported faults.
- Ensuring spares stock equipment is recorded correctly and that as stock is used these are replaced.
- Maintenance/ cleaning of AV/ VC Equipment throughout the building that is in service.
- Support events requiring lightweight audio/vision mixing for a variety of virtual, onsite and hybrid events utilising the Zoom Meeting platform.
- Meeting room support within a white glove environment
- Assisting the wider team in ensuring that you are competent is scheduling yourself to attend incidents across the site.
- Become competent with back end / remote troubleshooting on VC systems across the estate. i.e.- Cisco/ Microsoft Teams rooms.
