About The Role

We’re looking for passionate people to join our Entertainment's Tech team at Butlin's Skegness!

We are passionate about producing and delivering the high quality entertainment that Butlin’s has become renowned for. The Technical Support Team are an integral part of the Entertainment Team providing support to in house and external shows alike.  Great audio is important with any entertainment. Within Butlin’s our sound engineers require the skills to move from theatrical style spoken word, to a full band set.

Our team are looking for experience in live operating experience - sound engineer Alan and Heath desk knowledge preferred/desirable.

Working alongside a fantastic team, we will support you every step of the way to ensure you gain the skills and confidence to truly get stuck in.

You must be flexible working across weekdays, weekends and evening.

The Gatehouse Theatre is a provincial theatre in the heart of Stafford. It has a busy received season showing a variety of Music, Comedy and Drama and is known for punching above it’s weight when it comes to produced shows. Currently the theatre produces 3 studio Youth theatre shows and 1 main house summer school per year, not forgetting it’s acclaimed annual Shakespeare show which attracts famous actors from around the world.

Whilst ambitions are high when we produce, our heart is with the local community. We work closely with our local amateur dramatics and dance schools to make their shows the best that they can be. We run community engagement projects such as our afternoon film days which aim to combat loneliness and we support local charities.

Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is looking to recruit a Senior Sound Technician with experience leading and being part of a theatre technical team. The role entails taking a hands-on approach towards supporting the technical department, to rig, operate and maintain all sound equipment. You will programme and operate sound for our produced shows, source music and SFX for shows as required, take ownership of the sound department and contribute to the safe and organised storage of all sound equipment.

Hours: 37 hours a week, Monday - Sunday (Rota Basis)

Requirements

• Have a positive, can-do attitude towards work.

• Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative

• Be organised and responsible

• Experience mixing live bands and/or musicals
• Knowledge of microphone placement techniques
• Experience programming and operating Qlab
• Good problem-solving skills

• Manual Handling experience

• Experience working in a producing theatre
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practises
• Working at heights trained
• First aid at work trained
• A degree or similar qualification in sound or a related subject
• A full clean UK driving licence
• Good knot tying skills
• Ability to programme and operate an ETC Ion
• Experience rigging sound and/or Lighting equipment
• Knowledge of projection/AV

You will work closely with artists, performers and the wider Technical Team to ensure our entertainment continues to delight our guests and create memories that last a lifetime.

You will be responsible for the setup, operation and maintenance of our sound systems, ensuring that these are delivering fantastic sound quality at every show.

We’re looking for an experienced sound engineer with a working knowledge of digital and analogue mixing desks, musical instruments and backline equipment. You should also have an understanding of RF and Midi control.

Due to the range of entertainment offered at our resorts, you should ideally have experience with different genres of entertainment, but this isn’t essential. What’s more important to us is your ability to think on your feet and have a solution minded approach to your work.

As well as operating sound equipment, you will also play a part in maintenance and repairs so should have demonstrable experience in this area.

AV Technician

The role may at times require the set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as meetings, presentations, and news conferences.

• To liaison with meeting coordinator or venue director to establish workflow of events.
• Create and install custom lighting systems.
• Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality.
• Diagnose and correct media system problems.
• Coordinate audio feeds with LED display images.
• Clean audio and video equipment and store properly.
• Ensure the safe storage and integrity of data.
• Maintain inventory of equipment.

Requirements

• Operate and maintain audio visual equipment including display devices, projectors, televisions, camera systems, video teleconferencing systems, microphones, and speakers.
• Provide excellent equipment services to meet client expectations.
• Perform equipment storage and transportation activities in safe and secure manner.
• Perform inventory management of equipment, wirings, and accessories to avoid any shortages.
• Setup and operate audio visual equipment for trainings, presentations, meetings, and conferences.
• Perform equipment inspections, Identify potential equipment malfunctions
• Assemble and disassemble audi0 equipment as needed.
• Testing of pre-installed equipment to ensure they are in good and safe working conditions.
• Provide technical assistance to other Technicians when required.
• Maintain the work room and storeroom clean, safe, and organized.

• Set up, operate, and maintain lighting and sound equipment for various productions and events.
• Read and interpret lighting and sound plots, cue sheets, and technical drawings.
• Execute lighting and sound cues during performances and rehearsals as directed by the Stage Manager or Technical Director.
• Assist with the design and implementation of lighting and sound for new productions.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lighting fixtures, control desks, audio consoles, microphones, speakers, and cabling.
• Manage and organize the technical inventory, ensuring equipment is stored correctly and maintained in good working order.
• Provide technical support to visiting companies and freelance technicians.
• Ensure all technical operations comply with health and safety regulations and venue policies.
• Assist with rigging, focusing, and programming lighting states.
• Operate sound mixing consoles and playback systems, ensuring clear and balanced audio.
• Work collaboratively with directors, designers, stage managers, and other technical staff.
• Participate in technical rehearsals and contribute to the smooth running of performances.
• Maintain a clean and organized technical area.
• Assist with load-in and load-out of equipment for various events.
• Operate follow spots and manage stage power distribution as needed.
• Stay updated on new technologies and techniques in stage lighting and sound.
• Contribute to risk assessments for technical operations.
• Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all stakeholders.
• Adapt to changing technical requirements and troubleshoot effectively.

• Proven experience as a Theatre Technician, specifically with hands-on experience in both lighting and sound operations.
• Proficiency with a range of theatre lighting consoles (e.g., ETC Ion/Eos, Avolites), moving lights, and conventional fixtures.
• Experience with various sound mixing consoles (digital and analog), microphone techniques, and PA systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical theatre drawings, plots, and cue sheets.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety and basic rigging principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• A proactive approach to work and the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Relevant qualification in Theatre Technology, Live Sound, or a related field is advantageous, but practical experience is paramount.
• Knowledge of video projection and basic CAD software is a plus.
• Awareness of health and safety legislation relevant to the theatre industry.
• A passion for live performance and technical theatre.

Audio Visual Technician - Birmingham
200/day | 2 Days Per Week | 6-Month Contract (Potential to Go Permanent)

We're looking for an experienced Audio Visual Technician to provide onsite meeting room and break-fix support for a leading global bank in Birmingham.

The Role:

• Onsite AV support for meeting rooms & video conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Cisco, etc.)

• Troubleshoot and resolve AV technical issues quickly and effectively

• Maintain, test, and set up AV equipment for high-profile meetings

• Liaise with IT teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations

What You'll Need:

• Proven experience in an Audio Visual or AV/VC support role, ideally in a corporate setting

• Strong knowledge of conferencing systems and AV hardware

• Great communication skills and a professional manner

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues

Details:

• Location: Birmingham (onsite)

• Schedule: 2 days per week

• Contract: 6 months minimum - potential to go permanent

• Rate: 200/day (outside IR35)
