An opportunity has arisen for an assistant to join our pharmacy procurement team responsible for the purchasing of medicines for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The procurement team mange the ordering of over £20 million worth of medicines each year, so we are looking for someone with the right skills and attention to detail. We are looking for an excellent team player who is hardworking and enthusiastic to participate in and support the provision of our services.
A good general understanding of IT systems is essential as the majority of our ordering systems are electronic. You will also be expected to be able to update excel spreadsheets and competently interact with other Microsoft applications.
You will be involved in the day to day ordering of medicines, liaising with wholesalers and suppliers to ensure medicines are available for clinical teams.
Processing invoices and chasing out of stock medicines as also a key component to the role.

- To undertake the placing of routine and ad-hoc pharmacy orders, in accordance with the defined daily routine.
- To undertake invoice processing, in accordance with agreed timescales, ensuring that deviations from predicted purchase price are investigated.

Primary responsibilities
- To select, label and dispense correct items in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure safe supply to patients;
- To dispense controlled drugs in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure legal compliance;
- To ensure at the point of sale, the safe and correct supply of dispensed items to patients;
- To identify problems in administration of medicines such as medicine interactions and other physical factors that may affect patient compliance;
- To create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality;
- To assist with stock control and inventory procedures to maximise availability and minimise waste;
- To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines;
- To assist with the preparation of monitored dosage and cassette box systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes;
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of pharmacy issues for the purposes of continuing professional development;
- To support pharmacy colleagues and mentor others through the timely completion of training courses;
- To work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
- To provide, once trained, blood pressure monitoring, smoking cessation, diabetes testing, health checks, and other healthcare services (which may include Covid related services).

ENTRY
There are no minimum qualifications although it would be useful to have GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English, mathematics and science.
TRAINING

Further training opportunities are available to NVQ level 3 for assistants once they have proven their ability and enthusiasm.
Training is completed under a sponsorship agreement.

- You will attend pre-planning meetings with Clients and Managers to plan and agree the execution strategy for the next cycle drives, as well as co-ordinating and implanting all cycle information agreed with client.

Career Experience
- Minimum of 2 years administration experience in a fast-paced environment is desirable (sales administration would be preferred).
