Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the advertising and allocation of properties.
  • Responsible for categorising housing register applications.
  • Verify applicant's eligibility for housing, including investigating fraud, child residency, and home ownership.
  • Identify appropriate adapted properties for individuals needing specific changes or adaptations to their current home.
  • Arrange multiple property viewings.
  • Interview applicants in their homes or elsewhere to assess housing needs and refer cases of suspected neglect or environmental health issues.
  • Conduct assessments on properties.
  • Stay informed about alternative housing options.
  • Manage a caseload, focusing on clients with complex needs, particularly vulnerable individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure proper audit trails for each case.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints and appeals.
  • Assist in preparing court papers when necessary.
  • Foster effective working relationships with other teams.
  • Safeguard the authority's financial interests by identifying arrears or debts.
  • Work closely with the Council Tax and Housing Benefits teams.
  • Perform various other ad hoc duties related to the role.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of homelessness and immigration legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, able to stay calm and confident in challenging situations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workload within set targets.
  • Capable of evaluating complex issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Resilient in handling complex and difficult cases.
  • Customer-oriented.
  • Ability to travel to other locations within the area.
  • Full UK driving licence.

My Local Authority client in the East Midlands is looking to appoint a talented IT Procurement Lead Officer on a Contract basis.

This role will lead the development of agreed parts of an overall procurement strategy, team structure and enabling processes for the Council.

About the role:

Based in Greater London (Hybrid):

  • Lead the procurement of contracts for the IT sub-category, worth an estimated 25-75m per annum, in line with Departmental service strategies
  • Minimise the level of risk to NCC of non-compliance in contracts and facilitating efficiency improvements.
  • Support the procurement of a portfolio of contracts to ensure that they deliver value for money, and that development and renewal comply with UK Procurement Legislation, Contract Procedure Rules and procedures for governance, risk and control
  • Support the category manager in ensuring that adequate commercial understanding of the sub-category areas is in place across the department.

About you:
You will have the following experiences:

  • Extensive experience of IT procurement for a Local Authority
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the Procurement Act 2023.
  • CIPS Level 4 minimum.
  • Experience with GCloud and similar frameworks.

What's on offer:

  • Salary: 400 per day, inside IR35

*negotiable based on experience

3 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • This temporary position provides legal and administrative support within a Public Rights of Way (PRoW) service, covering legal processes and operational needs during a staff absence.• The role includes casework involving statutory orders, legal advice, inter-agency coordination, and public engagement within the scope of rights of way legislation.Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Manage or assist in the full process of Definitive Map Modification Orders.• Process orders under the Highways Act 1980 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.• Offer legal advice regarding Public Rights of Way matters to internal stakeholders.• Undertake site visits to assess, record, or verify PRoW cases and orders.• Collaborate with National Park Authorities and PRoW maintenance teams.• Upload and maintain PRoW data using the CAMS database.• Optionally act as Expert Witness at Public Inquiries.Skills/Experience: • Demonstrable working knowledge of PRoW legislation and legal procedures.• Prior experience managing Definitive Map Orders and related casework.• Strong legal advisory background, preferably within a Local Authority or similar public body.• Familiarity with Highways Act 1980 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.• Competency using PRoW systems/databases like CAMS.• Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across teams and organisations.• Willingness and ability to conduct on-site inspections across geographical areas.• Excellent organisational, written, and record-keeping skills.• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.Additional Information: • The closing date: 12/09/2025.
