The Role
SF Recruitment are working with a leading 1st tier automotive business in the West midlands to recruit a logistics engineer.
This is a newly created, hands-on role designed to drive process improvements, streamline material flow & ensure the smooth implementation of engineering changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process all Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to ensure updates are implemented accurately and efficiently. Setting up new supply lines where needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Procurement to ensure seamless part introduction and change implementation.
- Analyse current logistics and material flow processes to identify and implement cost-effective improvements and process optimisations.
- Develop and maintain documentation for logistics engineering processes and procedures.
- Support new product introduction by ensuring logistics readiness and alignment across both manufacturing areas.
- Monitor and resolve part shortages, delivery issues, or flow disruptions affecting production schedules.
- Provide technical support for layout planning, material handling methods, and space utilisation within manufacturing areas.
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Kaizen, Lean projects) focused on inventory optimisation, reduced lead times, and cost savings.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing engineering role, ideally within the automotive or a high-volume production environment.
- Strong understanding of Engineering Change Management, material flow, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities across large, fast-paced operations.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of WMS/ERP systems is a strong advantage.

**The Opportunity**
As a **Logistics Engineer** within **Fleet & Automation,** you will play a key role in supporting the integration of automation and managing the performance of solutions and MHE fleet within the operation. Essentially, you will be the expert of how material gets moved. You will apply data-driven decision-making and drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate service delivery.
The role will be accountable for, but not limited to:
+ Making an impact by improving processes and assisting with the design, implementation, testing and validation of efficient, competitive logistics solutions such as AMRs.
+ Coordinating stakeholders to align automation and mechanisation initiatives to achieve seamless integration into operations.
+ Identifying and evaluating opportunities in fleet, automation, and logistics processes by analysing data and driving continuous improvement.
