SRM are preparing for the commencement of a major programme of construction works in Port Talbot, South Wales. The works to be undertaken will involve heavy construction/ civil engineering works across a variety of industrial work fronts over the next 3 to 4 years, commencing initially with a series of enabling works ahead of the main programme of works commencing Q3 : 2025.
If you are a Logistics Manager with experience on large multi-million-pound projects , we have a great opportunity for you to join our Team in Port Talbot to work on an interesting, complex and technically challenging project. The project value will be in excess of £200m.

The Logistics Manager role:
The logistics manager will be required to manage the movement of people, goods and equipment throughout the site in order to ensure organisational effectiveness, efficiency and safety in both the pre-construction and construction phases of the project.
- Must be experienced in undertaking a Logistics Management role on a large/ complex Heavy Construction/ Civil Engineering Project
- Must be a Team Player used to working on multi-disciplinary, large complex Heavy Construction/ Civil Engineering Project as part of a bigger team
- Must be able to undertake Line Manager duties for any direct reports allocated to manage and administer the project logistical requirements
- Must be hands on and with a “can do attitude” and used to problem solving
- Will be site-based working as a key project team member as part of the Core Team.
- IT Proficiency a must especially in utilising IT Booking in Tools/ Software
- Clear & concise communication skills
- Must be able to ensure Project Health, Safety & Well Being policies, procedures, site rules, minimum standards, works contractors RAMS are followed at all times, and ensure a positive H,S & WB culture is at the heart of all that t we do
- Must be organised
- Must be open, honest & trustworthy
- Used to working to tight deadlines sometimes under challenging conditions
- Assist the Project Team in the coordination of all works contractors, which include all logistics and works activities ensuring that consideration is given to the neighbouring / local community
- Ensuring all works contractors management/ workforce, visitors, deliveries are inducted in line with both SRM & TATA-UK requirements before being allowed to step foot onto the site to work on the project
- Attend daily “Black Hat” briefings for the coordination of Trade Contractors and Sub-contractors
- Create a schedule of logistics meetings and ensure logistics are represented at site meetings
- Ensure components / equipment are delivered to site in line with the construction programme taking into account any changes on site i.e. design changes or delays
- Managing plant and equipment deliveries notified by the Works Contractors/ Client Team
- Maintain an asset register of equipment Mewps and lifting equipment delivered being used on site
- Assist with the production and implementation of the logistical phasing plans for the project, including site controls.
- Assist with the project logistical reporting, providing key logistical stats, reports recommendations to improve the project logistical interfaces to make the site operate effectively and efficiently
- Ideally located in South Wales within daily travelling distance of Port Talbot.
Your profile:
- A proven track record of delivery within a construction management or logistics function that has led to performance improvement e.g. cost reduction, process/service enhancements, innovation
- Personal commitment to promoting a sustainable approach to logistic procurement and supply chain development
- Capacity to deal with complex logistics issues, and to implement logistics and supply chain vision, strategy and priorities
- Must have Site Management Safety Training Scheme) SMSTS Training and
- Must hold relevant CSCS card
- First Aid or Mental Health First Aid Training although not a must have for the right candidate

About the Role

- Proven experience in Logistics planning and inventory management or similar role, with a strong track record of managing logistics operations.
- Exceptional decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems quickly and effectively.

Role and responsibilities:
Daily Site Logistics
Oversees the day-to-day movement of plant, materials, and equipment within secure construction zones.
Plans and schedules deliveries, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations and full compliance with security protocols.
Coordinates site access, laydown areas, storage, and waste removal in line with programme and safety requirements.
Stakeholder Liaison
Works closely with Heathrow's operational and logistics teams, the construction partner, and subcontractors to align on access, permits, and movement plans.
Acts as the main point of contact for logistics-related matters, keeping communications clear and proactive.
Attends planning and coordination meetings to provide input on sequencing, constraints, and logistics solutions.
Compliance and Safety
Ensures all logistics activity is carried out in accordance with airport safety, security, and airside regulations.
Supports security compliance by working alongside the Airport Security Coordinator and ensuring logistics operations are properly authorised.
Maintains traffic management plans and ensures routes and deliveries adhere to airside and landside restrictions.
Planning and Reporting
Develops short-term and lookahead logistics plans in line with construction sequencing.
Maintains accurate records of deliveries, vehicle movements, access permits, and logistics KPIs.
Supports the project team with regular reporting, risk identification, and solutions.
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in a logistics management role on major infrastructure or aviation projects.
Strong understanding of logistics challenges in secure or live operational environments, ideally within airports.
Knowledge of Heathrow logistics procedures, airside access, and relevant security protocols (preferred).
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously.
Strong communicator, able to work under pressure and build trust across teams.
Familiarity with permit systems, traffic management planning, and environmental controls.
Must be eligible to pass security clearance checks required for Heathrow airside access.
