Location: Halifax

Duration: Temporary - Ongoing (likely minimum of 12 weeks and can lead to a permanent role)

Working Hours: Mon - Fri rotating weekly, 6am -2pm and 12pm - 8pm

Hourly rate: 12.75p/h rising to 15.16p/h once fully trained - training can take 3-6 weeks.

Stafflex are recruiting Logistics Operators on behalf of our global industry-leading client. The purpose of the role is to provide the site with an efficient bulk and packed materials receipt, warehousing and despatch service.

General Duties:

  • To ensure that forklift trucks are regularly inspected and details of any repairs are reported to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Use of counterbalance fort lift truck, VNA truck and Shunter as required to meet the demands of the job.
  • Carry out stock taking as required
  • As and when requested provide samples of product from finished goods and/or parts locations.
  • To ensure all storage areas and the site surrounds are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Daily completion of all required paperwork with regards to receiving, despatching, relocating of product.

RAW Material:

  • Receipt of packed raw materials, packaging and purchase for re-sale goods on to site. The unloading, checking against delivery notes and correct storage of such materials.
  • Ensure correct segregation of incompatible materials.
  • Receipt and unloading into storage of bulk raw materials in accordance with site quality and safety systems.
  • Ensure production is supplied with required raw materials in a time manner, and that empty packages, waste and scrap material are removed daily to the correct storage areas.
  • Return of raw materials from plant areas and relocation into raw material storage areas and/or racking is carried out daily.
  • All movements of raw materials and waste are fully documented daily and supplied to the Warehouse Manager / Raw Materials Controller.

Finished Goods:

  • Collect completed Finished Goods from production areas and move to warehouse, daily.
  • Ensure all FG received into the warehouse are correctly labelled and stored in the warehouse, the location to be recorded on CRM in a timely manner.
  • To ensure all product is picked in accordance with the information on the picking lists, any deviation from the picking list must be reported to the Warehouse Manager.
  • To ensure all packed orders are ready within specified time limits and to customer specifications. Correct labelling, banding and preparation of orders as required.
  • Preparation of finished product in line with customer requirements, which may include relabelling, re-palletising of product to meet customer requirements.
  • Loading and despatching of packed product in accordance with company and regulatory procedures.
  • Ensuring all loading paperwork is completed correctly and distributed according to the company requirements.
  • Operation of the site weighbridge.
  • Loading of Finished Goods Tankers in accordance with the company loading procedures.
  • Sampling of bulk storage tanks during loading/packing operations as required.

Essential competencies include:

  • Full UK driver's license.
  • Ability to be flexible within the working day to facilitate specific business needs.
  • Counterbalance and VNA FLT valid and in date is essential.
  • Previous logistics experience is advantageous but not essential.

Role Purpose

The Logistics Area Manager will report into the Head of Supply Chain and will be responsible for overseeing the management of ensuring goods and resources are shipped to their appropriate destination. Main Responsibilities

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day performance of the logistics team
  • Dealing with any customer complaints due to haulage issues
  • Planning/overseeing incoming and outgoing deliveries
  • Calculating the fuel adjustment escalator/rebate based on the contract agreement at the end of each month
  • Responsible for the management of any direct reports overtime and holiday entitlement
  • Managing any formal disciplinary procedures with direct reports
  • Responsible for training, completion of all training and refresher training for the logistics team
  • Daily support for the Schedulers team when an incident occurs
  • Managing employee absence cycle for direct reports
  • Completing and managing annual appraisals with direct reports
  • Ensuring Qpulse incident and accident actions are implemented and follow ups are completed
  • Overseeing that production figures are valid for Sedamyl
  • Completing internal audits
  • Supporting with external audits where relevant
  • Preparing presentations for customer visits and taking an active part in setting up the meeting based on the agenda
  • Visit new ‘ship to’ customer destinations together with the haulier to complete an assessment of the area in preparation for the first delivery
  • Keeping relationships with the external warehouse and setup of new contract agreements when necessary
  • Liaising with the maintenance teams ensuring any planned work is communicated to the logistics team
  • Develop extensive knowledge of the site production and speak on behalf of the logistics team in the daily production meeting
  • Review daily production figures
  • Analysis the production forecast on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Liaise with the Head of Supply Chain with any issues
  • Reconciliation of the end of month figures
  • Perform regular catch-up meetings with hauliers
  • Monitor the haulier’s performance on a monthly basis
  • Compliance with legislation and regulations in relation to industry law and company policies and procedures
  • Review and approval/decline any invoices related to the Logistics Department
  • Take Health, Safety and Environmental ownership of yourself, others and activities within your areas of responsibility, raising all HSE concerns you become aware of, outside your areas of responsibility, with relevant managers.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably requested.
