Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Logistics and Supply Chain Operations Supervisor to oversee critical functions within their distribution network in Nottingham . This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker who can manage day-to-day operations while contributing to long-term supply chain improvements. You will be responsible for supervising a team of logistics coordinators and warehouse staff, ensuring efficient inbound and outbound flow of goods, managing inventory levels, and optimizing transportation routes. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of supply chain principles, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage operational challenges. You will play a key part in implementing new logistics technologies and processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. This role offers a blend of on-site oversight and potential remote engagement, requiring flexibility and strong communication skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
- Manage and mentor a team of logistics and warehouse personnel, fostering a productive work environment.
- Oversee inventory management processes, including receiving, storage, and dispatch, to maintain accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
- Coordinate transportation activities, optimizing routes and carrier performance to ensure timely deliveries and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to health, safety, and security in the warehouse.
- Monitor operational KPIs and generate reports on key performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and manage supply chain flow.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Resolve operational issues and customer inquiries promptly and effectively.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and other logistics partners.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Assist in the planning and execution of inventory counts and audits.
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse operations, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Solid understanding of inventory management, warehouse operations, and transportation logistics.
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and TMS (Transportation Management Systems) is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of lean principles or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
