Role purpose and contextThe Supply Chain function is responsible for quality, cost and delivery. The role focuses on ensuring stock availability to support the commercial organisation and provides specific support to key customers with framework agreements requiring stock to be held or available at a specific time.
Responsibilities- Stock Management - ensure the correct level of stock at item level considering the ABC classification and WC targets.
- Produce regular stock reports including projections and analysis, including working with the Sales & Support team on depreciated and at-risk stock.
- Work with sales teams to analyse historical sales trends and current price positioning with key customer groups; produce forecasts and place replenishment orders as necessary. This includes weekly completion of a WSSI report and leading a S&OP monthly. Communicate production forecasts to the relevant manufacturing unit.
- Perform metal risk mapping by analyzing pricing practices among sales and purchase contracts and propose recommendations to limit overall risk.
- Monitor the weekly metal position and monthly reconciliation, challenging data where necessary.
- Take actions to keep the open metal position close to authorized limits, including paper hedging and collaborating with the Sales Team to limit financial risk.
- Provide metal support and training for all stakeholders within the Unit.
- Interface with Sales & Support, Finance and Warehouse teams to ensure effective communication.
- Build and leverage supplier relations with internal and external suppliers; utilise intercompany trading for the benefit of the company.
- Support import/export complexity, including selecting shipment methods to mitigate risk and meet customer demand.
- Stock (including T&P) invoice checks and approval; review the GRNI at month end with Finance to ensure stock and charges are accrued; manage FX for projects.
- Handle customer complaints related to supply chain quality or product issues; escalate to suppliers, obtain 8D reports and raise debit notes where applicable.
- Deputise for the Supply Chain Manager when required and be the first point of contact for escalation.
- Support continuous improvement projects across the business including ERP development, project delivery and data analysis.
- Clear, concise and timely communication to the commercial team regarding metal exposure and expected results, FX impacts on COS, stock position, and stock availability.
- Purchasing decisions are made in time to achieve correct stock levels, considering ABC and WC targets.
- Stock integrity, especially during stock counts; all purchasing complies with documented procedures and authorisation.
- Manage metal limits and hedging; conduct contract reviews and negotiations; manage import/export requirements and duties.
- Strong decision making and optimization of opportunities; support and motivate the supply chain team.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ideally educated to A Level standard – NQF Level 2; CIPS Level 4 desirable.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C minimum).
