CNC Recruitment are proud to work with a lead manufacturer who is recognised and awarded as an employer of choice delivering excellence within state of the art facilities who are currently seeking a Warehouse & Logistics Manager to join their team in Mere area.

Location: Mere  
Pay Rate: £40,000 - £50,000

Contract: Full Time Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 8:00am–5:15pm, Friday 8:00am–4:15pm

Role Purpose

To lead and manage all warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective storage and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. The role ensures optimal inventory control, timely deliveries, and supports the manufacturing process through effective materials handling and logistics planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

·    Manage all daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.

·    Ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and stock reconciliations.

·    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment in compliance with health and safety standards.

·    Monitor and improve warehouse layout and workflow for efficiency.

·    Implement and monitor KPIs to drive warehouse efficiency and performance.

·    Oversee handling of returns, damaged goods, and non-conforming products.

Logistics & Distribution

·    Plan and coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials to production and finished goods to customers.

·    Manage inbound and outbound transportation, including carrier selection, route optimisation, and freight cost control.

·    Negotiate contracts and liaise with third-party logistics providers and freight forwarders to ensure service level agreements are met.

·    Track shipments and resolve issues such as delays, customs clearance, or damaged goods.

Team Management

·    Lead, train, and develop the warehouse and logistics team to achieve departmental goals.

·    Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.

·    Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Manufacturing, Procurement, Customer Service) to align with business goals.

Systems & Compliance

·    Manage WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and ensure accurate data entry and reporting.

·    Work with ERP systems for inventory control and production planning support.

·    Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies (e.g. health & safety, quality, customs, export controls).

Cost & Efficiency

·    Identify opportunities to reduce logistics and warehousing costs without compromising service.

·    Support lean initiatives and drive process improvements within the warehouse and logistics functions.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

·    Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse and logistics management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

·    Excellent understanding of supply chain principles and logistics best practices.

·    Strong knowledge of ERP and WMS systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).

·    Proven leadership and people management skills.

·    Knowledge of HSE regulations and compliance requirements.

·    Ability to analyse data and make decisions to improve performance.

Desirable:

·    Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.

·    Experience in import/export processes and international logistics.

·    Forklift license or knowledge of Material Handling Equipment operation.

About the role

Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Construction Logistics Lead on the Hinkley Point C Project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

This role will be 80% site based, 10% office based and 10% remote.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure all MEH Alliance Onsite Logistics activities are undertaken safely and
    responsibly.

  • Provide and demonstrate through a positive HSE leadership,
    building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole
    construction life cycle of the Project.

  • Be the MEH Alliance Joint Ventures focal point for Onsite material End to End coordination and building construction logistics delivery.

  • Manage the interfaces between the MEH Joint Venture Delivery Partners and the On-Site Logistics Service Providers to ensure a smooth project logistics
    delivery.

  • Actively manage and motivate the Logistics Service Delivery Organisation
    stake holder.

  • Identify and implement Best Practice throughout the project On Site logistics
    functions.

  • Work closely with the Logistics Service Delivery Provider to Manage, Monitor
    and Control the planning and execution of logistics for the MEH Alliance
    partners on a day-to-day basis.
    Liaise with all client and MEH Alliance departments on construction logistics
    matters.

  • Ensure logistics services for the project are delivered on time, within budget
    and right first time.

  • Ensure that the Logistics Service Delivery Provider contracts Service
    Level Agreements are monitored, managed and delivered to ensure best for
    project safe and efficient logistics.

  • Liaise with all MEH Alliance services and compounds to ensure efficient
    logistics services and supply chain networks are maintained and
    appropriately manned to guarantee materials to Site (MTS), all materials are
    tracked to handover points and final yards are fit for project.

  • Provide all due diligence assurance to the client of value for money to HPC
    for the provision of logistics services by reviewing and approving all monthly
    applications for payment.

  • Support the delivery of a seamless logistics process from offsite to onsite,
    across different logistics partners


Who we're looking for

  • Level 5 Leadership or CMI or trade equivalent (or Equivalent)

  • Must come from a construction trade background to
    understand construction challenges and nuances.

  • Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher)

  • IOSH managing safely

  • Change Management qualification (APMG)

  • Risk management qualification

  • Project management qualification (Prince 2 or Equivalent)

  • A proven track record in managing logistics contractors.

  • Experience working on major construction projects

  • Experience in managing logistics suppliers and large teams

  • Experienced in delivering and operating as a Strategic Manager, including experience working with Joint Ventures

The Opportunity 

This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work at #Bristol (Aztec West), #Bridgwater (Satellite Delivery Centres), the #HPC Site – or a combination of these locations. 

You’ll join our Commercial Management (Supply Chain Directorate) Programme, gaining hands-on experience in contract management, supplier engagement and strategic procurement. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real-world challenges, and develop commercial, analytical and stakeholder management skills that will support your future career. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

During your placement, you’ll support the delivery of Hinkley Point C by helping manage contracts, supplier relationships and governance processes. You’ll attend supplier conferences, contribute to tendering and negotiations, and help develop supply chain strategies. 

Past students have supported the development of the Supply Chain’s data strategy, created automated reporting using PowerBI, enhanced insight in supplier relationship management, and contributed to regulatory engagement and strategic updates. You’ll gain exposure to the full team and develop a strong understanding of procurement and contract management. 

Your Work Location  

Depending on your skill set and development ambitions, you’ll be based at #Bristol (Aztec West), #Bridgwater (Satellite Delivery Centres), the #HPC Site – or a combination of these. Transport to the HPC site is provided from several collection points. 

Who You Are 

To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve – or have already achieved – a 2:1 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in disciplines such as Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Geography, Sciences, Supply Chain and Logistics (others may be considered). 

We’re looking for self-motivated, analytical individuals with a desire to learn and develop. You’ll be keen to build skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork and time-management within a commercial environment.
