- Investigate, assess, and quantify complex property damage claims in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
- Conduct thorough site inspections (potentially virtually or through third parties) and gather all necessary evidence.
- Negotiate settlements with policyholders, legal representatives, and other relevant parties.
- Appoint and manage external loss adjusters, surveyors, and other experts when required.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal claims handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all claims activity on the claims management system.
- Provide clear and concise communication to all stakeholders throughout the claims process.
- Identify potential fraudulent claims and escalate them for further investigation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of claims handling best practices.
- Mentor and support junior members of the claims team.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance claims handling, with a strong focus on property damage.
- In-depth knowledge of property insurance policies, relevant legislation, and claims investigation techniques.
- Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload of complex claims efficiently and effectively.
- Proficiency in using claims management software.

Property Damage Solicitor – 3+ PQE
This leading insurance litigation team handles complex commercial litigation on behalf of a number of tier 1 insurers and corporates. Matters can range from dealing with property damage, such as fire damage and escapes of water to complex coverage. The team is small and very supportive and offers fantastic career progression together with genuine flexibility in terms of a hybrid working pattern which works around you.
- Location: Manchester
- Work pattern: Hybrid
- Salary: £50,000–£60,000 (Dependent on Experience)
- Level: Solicitor or Legal Executive Associate to Senior Associate
Increase in complex work undertaken by the team
The main reason for this opportunity is because the team has started to receive instructions involving far more complex work. The team is looking to expand nationally with a number of roles becoming available in Birmingham and Manchester.
What is expected of you
If successful, you will be joining a dynamic team advising on complex work. As a snapshot, you will:
- Lead on high- value property damage claims (fire, flood, chemical, construction, environmental)
- Manage subrogated recoveries, coverage disputes and liability claims
- Handle broader commercial litigation including contractual disputes
- Collaborate with colleagues across Manchester, Birmingham and London
- Contribute to client development and strategic growth initiatives
Solicitors or Legal Executives with 3 PQE or more
The Partners are keen to meet litigators with a strong technical foundation and commercial approach:
- 3+ years’ PQE (Solicitor or Legal Executive)
- Background in property damage, insurance litigation or subrogated recoveries
- Commercial litigation experience also welcomed
- Excellent drafting, analysis and client-handling skills
- Proactive, collaborative and ambitious to progress
