The ideal candidate will have experience of working within paper-based manufacturing, have a good work ethic and be happy to work on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. This role is physically demanding so candidates will need to be fit and strong.

Key Tasks:
Ensuring the safe operation of the Dry end of the paper machine.
- Ensure that all safety checks are completed before operation of the paper machine.
- Work within all relevant safety rules and encourage others to do so.
- Communicate all safety concerns to the machine tender.
- Ensure all safety based maintenance concerns are raised to the machine tender.
Maintaining levels of organization and tidiness of machine during production.
- Ensure Machine house is free at all times from obstructions that may cause slips trips and falls.
- Ensure dry end (Machine house from wire platform speed door) & resin areas are kept clean to a standard that prevents impacts on machine operation and allows easy identification of mechanical issues.
Accurate and timely preparation of production documentation.

- Accurately recording of production data

- Ensure tests and inspections are completed in an accurate and timely manner by dry end crew
- Ensure any off spec or otherwise questionable material is controlled to prevent dispatch by either scrapping or holding material.
- Report any quality defect or concern to machine tender in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensuring machine is run efficiently by minimizing waste, minimizing downtime and maximizing broke usage
- Ensure machines are mechanically and electrically in a well maintained condition and any problems are reported to the Machine tender
- Ensuring machines are set up and run in accordance with correct instructions. E.g. TI, reel width, set diameter, etc
Maximizing efficient use of machine time
Ensuring machine is operated in a manner to minimize environmental impact
Support Operations management Team in decision-making and as a valued key member of the production team
Package:
- Salary band of £33742 – £37193 depending on experience.
- 4 on 4 off fixed shift (2 days (6am-6pm) and 2 nights (6pm-6am) followed by 4 days off
- 42-hour week based on an average calculation over the full year
- 25 days holiday + Bank holidays (based on the 42-hour average working week)
- July and Christmas shutdown
- Overtime rates (paid after 42 hours worked) – 1.5x pay Monday-Saturday, 2x pay Sunday
- Paid breaks
- Company Pension contribution of up to 8%

Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and performing advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure that equipment, machinery, and systems operate effectively and efficiently in the manufacturing and commercial environment. This role also involves leading and mentoring apprentices and maintenance technicians while assisting with planning and executing maintenance programs, breakdown, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and other technical issues, as well as performing preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
* Stand-in for Lead Technician/ Chargehand when they are not on site.
* Mentor apprentices and new starters to the department.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
* Perform repairs on a wide range of equipment, including Vacuum plants, Oil processing equipment, FLTs, Compressed air systems, Lighting and production machinery.
* Conduct emergency repairs to minimise production downtime.
* Execute routine maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance of equipment and legal compliance.
* Inspect equipment and systems regularly for signs of wear or malfunction.
* Maintain detailed maintenance records and logs using Idhammar database.
