We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Apprentice to join our Transportation Team based in Glastonbury, working towards a Level 2 apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance Operative.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading construction and infrastructure services company on an apprenticeship. Whilst working towards a recognised qualification, you'll be able to put your learnings into practice in your day-to-day role, helping you progress within your chosen career.
Location: Glastonbury
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £20,800
How does an apprenticeship work?
As a Highways Maintenance Operative you'll be enrolled onto a Level 2 apprenticeship as a Highways Maintenance Operative, giving you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn. You'll work closely with the Transportation team team to design, build and maintain infrastructure for the highways, rail, aviation and ports sectors, with a common goal of connecting people
Your day to day will include:
- Working across several highways depots in the region
- Providing routine maintenance and ensuring continued operation of roads, tunnels, and bridges in the area
- Other activities such as kerbing, concrete work and laying asphalt
- Assisting in monitoring traffic flow during maintenance operations
- Following health and safety protocols, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring a safe working environment
What are we looking for?
The role of Highways Maintenance Apprenticeis great for you if you:
- A minimum of GCSEs at grades 3 – 9 (GCSE D or above), Functional Skills level 1 in English and Maths
- Are punctual, self-motivated, and willing to learn
- Have the ability to handle physical work in varying weather conditions
- Are over 18 years of age due to the possibility of staying away from home for work and training
- Driving license preferable/advantageous due to location and opportunities to drive certain vehicles etc

About the Role
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrician or Electrically skilled Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be installing temporary power systems in line with BS7671 & BS7909 to facilitate our busy events programme, experience in this industry or the willingness to apply your electrical skills and knowledge in this exciting sector are paramount to being successful in this role, coupled with this, the person will also be required to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the campus, so experience in the following areas in beneficial:

- Emergency Lighting testing and repair
- Lighting control and BMS system operation

Due to Company growth, we are currently looking to recruit a Facilities Technician to join us on a permanent basis. The role is to help ensure our premises are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, clean, and secure environment for all users and to undertake general maintenance and cleaning.
Hours:
This is a part-time role and we are looking for someone to work up to 22 hours per week. We are happy to remain flexible on working days and working hours (we operate Monday – Friday as a business). Working days and hours can be discussed at interview stage.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out basic maintenance and repairs (e.g., changing lightbulbs, unblocking drains, painting, plumbing).
- Assembling and disassembling (e.g. furniture, racking).
- Ensure cleanliness of external areas (e.g., sweeping paths, clearing rubbish).
- Ensure pathways are safe during adverse weather (e.g., gritting in winter).
