EFAB Resourcing are looking for a Maintenance Technician for a 6 month contract, based in Wimbledon. The Maintenance Technician will execute planned and unplanned maintenance work to maintain plant reliability and compliance with the client's standards within their training, competence and authority. The technicianwill work usual hours during the week and be expected to cover breakdown work out of hours or at weekends if needed.
MAIN DUTIES
- Responsible for the completion of all routine and breakdown maintenance of plant and machinery up to level of competence, training and authority. Ensuring that the work is undertaken safely, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.
- Inspect and check operating plant and machinery as instructed. Diagnose faults on plant and machinery and complete SAP notifications and work orders for the rectification.
- Resolving plant problems by rectifying defects, and identifying opportunities that will enhance plant reliability.
- Isolation of plant (to the level of competence and authorisation) for maintenance purposes, testing and restarting equipment once maintained.
- Participation in a call-out system to support on (and off-site) operations, where appropriate.
- Completing training profile.
- Develop Work Instructions and procedures and maintain documentation.
- Maintaining a safe and clean site environment.
- Executing small site projects as instructed. In addition, assisting and liaising with Central Engineering Platforms team in the execution of larger capital projects.
- Undertaking any other duties that may be required to fulfil the requirements of the Maintenance function on site.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Time served craftsman appropriate City and Guilds/NVQ3/ONC/HNC Mechanical Technician qualifications.
- Experience of working in a process plant environment.
- In their designated discipline, experience of maintenance, including reciprocating pumps (ideally cryogenic) Electrical, Instrument and Mechanical subsystems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice.
- Knowledge of COMAH responsibilities and competency requirements.
- Good understanding of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation.

You will be taking care of the fire safety appliances onsite and also be a part of security team where you will escort and oversee contractors such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians, whilst they complete their maintenance work.
Duties of a Handyperson / Prison Security Escort Include (but not limited to)
- Checking fire doors to make sure they close properly and aren't damaged.
- Testing emergency lighting and replacing bulbs when needed.
- Checking fire extinguishers to ensure they are in the correct place and not damaged (not servicing them, just reporting issues).
- Keeping escape routes clear by removing obstructions and checking signage is visible.
- Reporting fire safety hazards, such as damaged equipment, faulty alarms, or blocked exits.
- Basic repairs to fire safety items, like fixing door handles or replacing broken fire safety signs.
And as a Prison Security Escort:
- Checking the identification of the contractors
- Checking contractors have been briefed on security measures
- Escorting contractors through the prison to their place of work
- Overseeing contractors whilst they are working (Please note you will have to stay with the contractors at all times)
- Checking contractor tools are all accounted for prior to leaving work area
- Using the radio to request permission to move contractors within the prison
