Our client, a leading name in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead their production facility. This crucial role involves overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are consistently met and exceeded. You will be responsible for managing production teams, optimizing processes, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational performance. A strong understanding of food safety regulations, lean manufacturing principles, and supply chain management is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct all day-to-day manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all production activities comply with stringent food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC) and quality control procedures.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production supervisors and operatives, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track efficiency, output, waste reduction, and quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other relevant approaches.
- Manage operational budgets, controlling costs related to raw materials, labour, energy, and overheads.
- Oversee inventory management and work closely with the supply chain team to ensure efficient material flow.
- Ensure the maintenance and proper functioning of all production equipment, working closely with engineering teams.
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to and promoting safe working practices.
- Collaborate with other departments, including R&D, Sales, and Logistics, to ensure alignment and meet business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a senior operations or production management role within the food manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of food production processes, quality control, and food safety standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of operational KPIs and performance metrics.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- A relevant degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
