We have a fantastic opportunity for individuals to join us here as an engineering apprentice at GE Power Conversion and Storage. You will join an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme in our Marine Power Test Facility Engineering Department based in Whetstone. Working closely with other members in the department and the wider operations team, this is an excellent opportunity to work along experienced staff to gain job-specific knowledge from their expertise, earn money whilst attaining a recognised qualification and improve skills and technical knowledge in a wide range of areas.
Our apprentices follow a four-year training scheme. The first two years you will attend college for 2 days a week, and work on site 3 days a week. The first year will involve working along side other apprentices in our Rotating Machines business in Rugby on core skills. During this time you can expect to gain a thorough grounding in the key areas required for a career in modern engineering.
The following 3 years will consist of practical training in various engineering disciplines at our Marine Power Test Facility across all engineering elements including Power Systems / Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Commissioning & Test. This presents an excellent opportunity to develop both hands on and design engineering skills and begin a career in systems engineering.
The successful candidates will be closely linked to a course of study which will, at a minimum lead to the attainment of a NVQ Level 3 qualification.
