About the role:
We are looking for a driven and hands-on Manufacturing Manager to join our Carlisle site during an exciting period of transformation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and wants to make a real impact on performance, people, and processes.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across 7 key production lines, managing a workforce of approximately 200 people. Each 24-hour cycle produces up to 200,000 units, and you will play a critical role in keeping the operation running smoothly and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting Production Managers across both days and nights, ensuring effective handovers.
- Driving performance against KPIs, including materials usage, labour variances, and overall efficiency.
- Actively managing production challenges such as breakdowns, staffing gaps, and rolling shortages.
- Spending time on the factory floor, understanding start-up processes, and embedding hygiene and quality standards.
- Supporting site-wide transformation initiatives, working with engineering, hygiene, technical, and planning teams.
- Analysing data, chairing meetings, and turning insights into actions that improve performance.

- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to be visible on the shop floor.

Our Operations Managers have a big job, it's down to them to ensure our manufacturing operation runs smoothly, ensuring we deliver great quality products to our customers, on time. It's demanding, pacey and ever-changing. Reporting into the Site Manager, you will manage a team of Shift Managers who are responsible for a large number of operators and technicians.
You will also be responsible for:
- Ensuring the Health & Safety of all colleagues whilst maintaining and making improvements in all areas li>Maintaining a balanced scorecard against KPIs to drive further growth across the site
- Maximising profits and drive performance improvement
- Working with our current teams to drive the Continuous Improvement Strategy, through colleague involvement and engagement
About You
As well as strong leadership skills you will also:
- Be working as a Production Manager/Operations Manager, or equivalent, within a large scale, fast-paced production environment - ideally across Food Manufacturing.
- Have a proven track record in an operational management role in particular delivering results, with a strong emphasis on leading, motivating and developing.
- Have experience in leading and coaching managers to drive forward results and step change operational performance would also be a great advantage, and would be in line with the expectations of our current managers
- Have a good working knowledge of the tools and techniques of Continuous Improvement and how to integrate them into a business
