- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, including sweeping and disposing of debris.

We’re working with a well-established manufacturing company looking for a Factory Operative to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.
This is a hands-on, physical role in a fast-paced production environment. You'll be working with cast metal parts, using various tools and machinery to prepare products for the next stage of production.
Duties will include:
- Fettling and grinding of metal castings using power tools li>Manual handling – moving boxes and materials < i>Shot blasting (machine operation)
- Etching parts using specialist hand tools
- Operating a band saw when required
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and workspaces
- Recording production data on a touchscreen system
- Completing paperwork to track tasks completed
You will have:
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment
- A good level of physical fitness
- Experience using hand tools
- Access to your own transport due to location
- A solid CV demonstrating reliability

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring precision machinery to produce high-quality gears in line with technical specifications and production targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the production process.
What you will be doing as a Production Technician?
- Set up machines according to detailed operational requirements, including selecting and loading the appropriate gear cutting program. li>Ensure correct and secure product loading and clamping before machining operations begin.
- Adjust and change machine settings efficiently when switching between jobs within defined timeframes.
- Perform gear cutting operations and apply the correct deburring and polishing methods to meet specified design dimensions and surface finishes.
- Operate multiple machines simultaneously when batch sizes and components permit.
- Carry out in-process inspections, ensuring parts are produced accurately and to the highest quality standards, following technical drawings and validation sheets.
- Use precision measurement tools, such as micrometers and verniers, to verify product dimensions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to guide machining processes and maintain product accuracy.
- Address technical queries where possible and escalate issues when necessary.
- Support production efficiency by assisting colleagues and contributing to a smooth workflow across the team.
- Follow company quality systems and procedures to ensure compliance with production and safety standards.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, completing any required training in line with HSE legislation.
- Report any machine or production issues promptly to the Manager or Supervisor.
- Always demonstrate punctuality and professionalism.
What qualifications do you need to be a Production Technician?
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar role or industry. < i>Proficient in using a variety of precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure product quality.
- Strong mathematical and technical abilities, with a solid understanding of engineering or manufacturing processes.
- Experienced in systematic problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Quick to learn and adaptable, capable of adjusting to new processes, tools, or environments with ease.
