Plant Manager - Manufacturing - Glasgow Area

An established and growing manufacturing company in the plastics and additive materials industry is looking for an Plant /Operations Manager to oversee its full site operations in Glasgow area . Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a strategic and hands-on role with full responsibility for Production, Maintenance, and Warehousing , as well as Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliance.

We’re looking for a motivated, commercially aware operations leader who can drive efficiency, build strong teams, and lead change in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all site operations, including production, maintenance, and warehouse teams
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Drive operational excellence and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage resources effectively to meet production targets and strategic goals
• Develop and monitor KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement
• Coach, mentor, and lead a team-focused culture
• Support strategic planning and site development in line with business goals
• Stay updated on industry trends and apply best practices in manufacturing

• Proven experience in a manufacturing operations leadership role (e.g., Operations Manager, Plant Manager, Site Manager)
• Background in plastics, chemical, or process-based manufacturing - must
• Strong knowledge of HSE, quality, and environmental compliance
• Hands-on leadership style with excellent team development skills
• Commercial awareness and experience managing KPIs and cost controls
• Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field

Tasked with guiding and developing a forward thinking and dedicated site production team, as Plant Operations Manager you will ensure that all activities run efficiently and safely and meet the needs of the customer - bringing out the best in both people and equipment whilst safeguarding the site by taking ownership of its infrastructure, security, assets, and emergency systems, ensuring everything runs seamlessly and downtimes are minimised.

You will be responsible for overseeing the daily cylinder filling and handling operations in order to ensure the site operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably, whilst building positive partnerships and ensuring objectives are achieved, and will champion safety and quality at all times by inspiring high standards in SHEQ leadership, leading safety committees and audits and ensuring compliance with regulations and embedding best practices throughout the facility.

Additionally you will oversee all aspects of daily production and maintenance, managing resources and budgets to achieve and exceed targets whilst maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards, and as a champion of continuous improvement, you will innovate and improve both processes and productivity while inspiring and empowering fellow members of the team to achieve the same.

• Coordinate and support the day to day running of internal and external plant hire operations, ensuring the team have oversight, structure, and timely follow through aligning day to day team activity with forecasted plans.
