About the role
You will be responsible for the development, testing, and continuous improvement of commercial aerospace products and the manufacturing assembly processes, supporting the launch of our products. You will be able to apply your expertise to optimize the safety, performance, efficiency, yield, and cost of our products and processes using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
Supporting multiple new product development (NPD) Projects you will lead DFM/A, PFMEA, production readiness reviews and the design and implementation of lean manufacturing cells to ensure production viability on launch.
In your role as our Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Support production readiness of new product development programs, leading readiness reviews and planning activities to support
- Fulfil Manufacturing Engineering requirements with DFM/A, APQP and project execution throughout NPD/I Process
- Coordinate the design, manufacture and introduction of tooling and assembly aids
- Provide support in driving continuous improvement throughout to optimize the performance of our products and processes using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies
- Identify and/or specify new equipment, processes and methods for investment or incorporation in line with business objectives
- Support in leading process and performance optimisation activity to achieve manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvement
- Identify and reduce operational risk using structured tools and techniques
- Support the Production operations with system improvements and continue to create a lean manufacturing culture
- Analyse process performance and development improvement projects using DMAIC approach
- Assist in process-writing tasks, using interlocked and error proofing process control systems
About you

- Experience working in a serial production line manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing / Production engineer
- Experience of working within a team to meet set deliverables within a manufacturing / production
- Practical working knowledge in the application and implementation of lean manufacturing
- Demonstrable experience of influencing product realization using a structured approach to DFM/A/C. (Design for Manufacture, Assembly, Cost)
- Practical working knowledge of robotics and automation including operational programming.
- Ability to evaluate, develop and improve existing production processes
Desirable:
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as Automotive / Aerospace OEM or First Tier supplier or equivalent industries
- Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical)
- Or a relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification / Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
Personal skills / attributes:
- Demonstrable experience in communicating to audiences of different levels through various channels in a concise manner
- High level of personal accountability and a strong bias for action
