Our client, a leading name within their industry, have an immediate need for Manufacturing Specialists to join their team.
You will:
- You will be working as part of the Springtown Manufacturing team. You will be responsible for operating a variety of machines in a 24/7 production environment within our wafer fabrication facility, producing recording heads for data storage products.
- You will perform machine tending operations to ensure that the machines are utilised to their optimum level and that the production goals for the site are met.
- You will be working within a cell of 3-4 people on shift within a larger team of 30-40 people in total.
- You will perform maintenance tasks across a 12-hours shift pattern that will include days, nights, and weekends.
- You will follow all Health & Safety rules and regulations that the facility has in place.
- You must always wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE).
- Perform to meet departmental goals and quality targets.
- Be motivated to work in a team and contribute to your team's success.
- Help identify and eliminate problems.
- Assist in simplification and/or improvements of procedures, techniques or processes.
- Adhere to all relevant documentation systems used in the production procedure.
- Observe Clean room and wafer handling etiquette.
- Utilising tools to their optimum level
- Undertake training as required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support Quality control in ensuring products meet required standards
- Maintain accurate records of manufacturing and quality control activities Help in identifying product defects and areas for improvement, collaborating with production team to troubleshoot issues.
- Assist with procurement: sourcing prices, monitoring costs, and managing stock levels
- Undertake small cutting tasks and assemble fixings

Criteria:
- Minimum GCSEs in English & Maths with some previous experience within in a manufacturing / engineering environment
- Strong organisational skills with a results-driven mindset

- Knowledge of Quality systems / ISO would be highly advantageous

Job Purpose
Working collaboratively with the leadership teams across all our global regions, you will have strategic and tactical responsibility for developing and implementing the manufacturing strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency, optimising production levels and driving operational excellence. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for Manufacturing across the site, which will include people (120+ staff in total within Fabrication / Manufacturing, working alongside the Head of Assembly who has a similar team size) and budgetary management. You will lead, direct and monitor all aspects of manufacturing on site. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently and that the set production goals are met while maintaining compliance with legal and safety standards. This position reports directly into the Operations Director and will require some board reporting.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 5 years’ people management experience at a similar company upper leadership level, within a similar lean manufacturing environment (Six Sigma and Kaizen etc)
- The successful person will have previous experience in managing similar manufacturing teams over a minimum of 50+ staff
- Strong personal drive and commitment and accountability to achieve goals, make improvements and have a successful collaborative team that works to fabrication excellence standard
- A relevant 3rd level qualification or demonstration of significant comparable senior experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, methods, design, testing and implementation. A thorough understanding of manufacturing principles and achieving output goals
- Experience of working with ERP systems and MS Office particularly Word & Excel

This responsibility includes the following key activities.
+ Ensuring a high level of EHS, people engagement and talent management within manufacturing.
+ Delivering on all EHS, Quality, Service, TTM and Cost goals & objectives.
+ Ensuring that there is an appropriate manufacturing strategy that aligns with Medical's current and future business needs and is in line with GQO & Medical Divisional Strategy.
+ Assume the responsibility of the local site lead/plant manager, when required.
**Key Areas of Responsibility**
+ Coaches and guides the Operations Business team.

**Qualifications Knowledge Skills**
**Basic Qualifications.**
+ Degree in Engineering or Business discipline or 10+ Operational leadership experience and a proven track record of success in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a regulated industry.
+ Minimum of 6+ or more years' experience and a proven track record of successfully creating and managing a highly talented, engaged and performing team.
+ Proven experience of navigating complexities and compliance requirements, to drive transformational initiatives and strategic oversight.
+ Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing excellence and experience in successful implementation of significant change management initiatives.
+ Excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of creating a high trust, high performance, and engaging work environment.
+ Excellent presentation, communication, influencing and facilitation skills.
**Preferred Qualifications (Basic Qualifications +).**
+ Master's Degree
+ Experience working in a medical device or similarly regulated environment
+ Demonstrated expertise in the core methods and tools of Six Sigma and Lean with proven ability to deliver business results using Six Sigma and Lean
+ Prior experience facilitating Lean/Six Sigma workshops and leading Kaizen events
