**About the role:**
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Engineering Function in Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) to support new business development as well as existing programs.
The successful candidate will integrate production and manufacturing knowledge, information and requirements into the "acquire and define" program phases as the designated Integrated Product Team (IPT) interface. Conceptualizes, designs and runs the program architecture for build. Defines, develops and implements the manufacturing plan and represents the program as the primary manufacturing integrator throughout acquire, define, produce and support phases of the product life cycle. Develops advanced manufacturing and engineering technologies and advocates, guides and deploys company Lean Enterprise analysis methods and application of lean processes and tools.
**Roles and responsibilities:**
+ Participates as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the integration of technical solutions.
+ Works with others to develop, identify and implement conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build.
+ Assists in creation and implementing manufacturing plans.
+ Resolves technical problems and assists in applying new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts.
+ Collaborates on the implementation of Lean principles and technologies.
+ Collaborates with professional associations, suppliers, IPTs and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge and experience.
+ Development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
+ Experience with Root Cause Analysis, problem solving and improvement projects.
+ Ability to collaborate with both the engineering workforce and mechanics on the factory floor.
+ Experience in assembly integration and test of components, assemblies and systems.
+ Experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
+ Strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
+ Experience with ERP/MRP tools such as SAP, GoldESP.
+ Computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Word and, MS Excel.
+ Aircraft systems knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
**Relocation:**
This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
**Work Authorization:**
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work immediately in the United Kingdom. The Manufacturing Planner role provides ownership and accountability of the creation/ maintenance of electronic work packages for each Maintenance, repair or modification input using GoldESP IG1 tool in accordance with PT145 and BDUK/ Boeing policy and processes.
This role is to support BDUK's delivery of Maintenance and Modification support of the E7 Wedgetail Mk1 AEW&C Aircraft during its initial production phase in Birmingham.
**Roles and responsibilities:**
+ Authors technical work instructions to approved process & regulatory requirements, writing, editing & proof-reading text, collating & verifying technical /engineering information, creating and editing bespoke work instructions.
+ Interprets multiple source formats of approved engineering data from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Design Organisation, or Applicable Customer controlled Maintenance data sources to produce a standardised, easy to use & logical set of production/manufacturing plans with consideration of regulatory requirements for accurate maintenance recording.
+ Supports the creation, receipt and delivery of multiple complex electronic manufacturing plans/work packages.
+ Manages configuration control of plan sets including engineering baseline establishment lists, manufacturing work instructions (Master Plans), associated aircraft specific plans (A/C Work Orders) and Nonconformance Report (NCR) Work Orders (WOs).
+ Manging the workflow of technical queries from the shop floor to key engineering functions and maintaining/reporting on associated metrics.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
+ Experienced in scheduled maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft/components.
+ Capable of creating detailed work instructions using technical writing ensuring all requirements and work recording measures are met.
+ Proven working knowledge of Engineering Resource Planning tools such as GoldESP IG1.
+ An excellent communicator, with a demonstrable ability to communicate and understand the technical work requirements of the team in order that key business targets are met.
+ Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS) processes, and the application of these requirements within their area of accountability, responsibility and authority.
+ Capable of understanding and interpreting Technical Documents, Technical Drawings and/or associated Authorised Technical Publications (ATP's), to provide guidance and support to the teams working on the aircraft or in the production of Work orders.
+ Capable of working and communicating within management levels, cross functional areas and the customer effectively.
+ Capable and experienced in sequencing and controlling demanding workloads, on time, to budget and to the required standard.

Salary - circa 49-50k per annum

  • Creation and control of manufacturing documentation such as set up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, standard operation processes (SOP's).
  • Take accountability across departments that need manufacturing engineering support such as NPDI, Production, Purchasing etc.
  • Ensure all tooling needed to provide an efficient manufacturing process is designed and manufactured correctly.

Experience and qualifications for the role are as follows;
  • Previous experience in a process or manufacturing engineering capacity.
  • Multi axis laser programming is essential, EDM & wire programming is highly desirable.
  • Laser engineering / programmer experience required.
  • Sheet metal / Fabrication experience required.
  • Hold Solidworks design software experience (although variants such as Catia, NX are acceptable).
  • Good problem solving - identify root cause and identifies a suitable solution.
  • Continuous Improvement mentality.
  • Good planning skills, able to multi task and communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Considering specific customer requirements related to heat treatment, surface finish and dimensional tolerances.
  • Understanding interfaces, mating, tolerances and fits to other process equipment.
  • Working with manufacturing departments to ensure they can meet drawing tolerances and accuracies.
  • Producing drawings to a consistent standard with clear notes and explosions of complex details.
  • Marking up drawings for internal engineers and sub-contract manufacturers to enable accurate production of finished components.
  • Checking that manufactured or measured parts do not interfere with fixtures, jigs or holding devices.
  • Working with the purchasing department to use stock or standard materials with acceptable lead times.
  • Designing new tooling and fixtures.
  • Reviewing customer designs and issuing instructions to the shop floor.
  • Efficiently issuing, storing and archiving designs, calculations and drawings.
Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

  • Qualified to HNC/HND/Degree standard in Mechanical Engineering or having relevant experience.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD and/or Creo and Microsoft Office.
  • Capable of working alone and liaising efficiently with internal and external parties.
  • An in-depth understanding of design for manufacture and manufacturing processes.
  • Machining knowledge to understand manufacturing routes.
Manufacturing Engineer Desirable Experience:

  • Apprenticeship trained (engineering).
  • Experience in the automotive, power transmission, gear, and calibration industries.
Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs
  • Friday: 08:00hrs to 13:00hrs

AMJ Recruitment are currently looking to recruit Manufacturing Operatives to work for a Well Established Manufacturing Business in Coventry.

This client is looking for candidates to GROW with them, and be part of their long term plans.

Shifts: Day Shifts (07:00am-16:00pm)

Pay: 12.24 per hour (OT at 18.36 per hour)

Start Date: ASAP

Duties Include:

- Assembling products from start to finish
- Use of hand tools
- Usage of various different types of machinery.
- Quality inspection
