In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Key Responsibilities will include:
 Participate in design reviews throughout each phase of the new product introduction process
and make improvement suggestions
Evaluate new product designs using 3D CAD model and mock-ups and log issues. Coordinate design for assembly/manufacture reviews and give feedback with improvement suggestions.
Ensure development mock-ups are built to schedule. Evaluate design, log issues and feedback to design engineers. Make improvement suggestions and validate solutions
Conduct make vs buy analysis on new product designs and look for optimisation

Estimate build times and required number of stations for new production processes. Carry out line balancing of operations
Produce APQP & PPAP documentation - process flow, PFMEA, control plan, work

Perform validation and verification of product design to satisfy customers quality and performance expectations as stipulated by systems engineering requirements
Identify tooling and equipment requirements for new assembly processes and write specification documents that will be used as basis for supplier quotation. Work with suppliers to ensure requirements are met.
Support the programme team in the delivery of industrialisation milestones for key events such as PDR, CDR, Test builds, PTR and PPAP
Check accuracy of BOM against build requirements and communicate any discrepancies to the design team.

Compile and update industrialisation timing plan for new programmes and feed into programme level timing plan. Communicate tasks on a critical path to programme team

About the Role


Are you an Aircraft Process (manufacturing) Engineer looking for a new Contract role? Primarily focusing on work to industrialise minor and major modifications for Single Aisle aircraft; The applicant should be competent in the modification of aircraft, supporting both mechanical and electrical systems. You will work as part of a multifunctional team to ensure industrialisation into production. The role is based in Broughton, North Wales, close to the English border, west of the City of Chester, and is Inside IR35.


Responsibilities


  • Translate design intent into the compilation and control of technical instructions and Manufacturing Engineering data for use in aircraft detail manufacture, assembly, test and certification, utilising current business tools.
  • Implement best practice methods, tools and processes from first principles to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Deliver detailed work preparation definition (routings, BOM’s, SOI’s, STV calculations) for aircraft production.
  • Ensure that all work and documentation meet departmental procedural and regulatory requirements.
  • Project manage detail manufacture, assembly, test and certification methods, tools and process improvements, including implementation strategies in accordance with business requirements.
  • Evaluate capacity of the manufacturing process, enhance as required and recommend changes to the product design standard.
  • Provide electrical/mechanical shop floor support to operations, supply chain and Final Assembly Lines.


Required Skills


  • Knowledge of Lean principles.
  • Application and knowledge of the current business management tools, ideally SAP.
  • Ability to operate from first principles in manufacturing disciplines and activities requiring technical skills and knowledge to make daily business decisions.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, Design and other Business Information Systems.
