About the Role

The successful candidate will be able to perform the activities set out below.

  • Lead the creation of long-term and short-term marketing strategies that align with our company goals. This includes positioning the brand, identifying target audiences, overseeing content creation and design, and outlining clear objectives.
  • Be the primary manager of our brand vision and ensure consistent messaging across all marketing channels and public relations coverage. Lead the evolution of our brand's voice, tone, and positioning in line with our growth. Plan and execute marketing and public relations strategies that can scale as the company grows. Ensure that the marketing processes and structures are set up to support the company’s future expansion and evolving needs.
  • Support each department within Howlett Brown to curate its brand position whilst connecting to our wider brand identity, messaging, and style. Manage relationships with leadership, external agencies, partners, and vendors to enhance marketing efforts, from ad campaigns to content creation. Regularly present reports and insights on marketing performance, and provide actionable recommendations to the leadership team based on data.
  • Collaborate with the Resource & Client Experience team gathering client insights and feedback to inform branding and messaging strategies. Understand the client journey and ensure marketing campaigns address client pain points and needs. Be proactive in identifying potential marketing challenges and crises (e.g. reputation management, campaign failures, or negative client feedback). Lead the team in swiftly addressing and resolving issues. Anticipate risks and create contingency plans to ensure that marketing efforts remain aligned with company objectives, even when unexpected situations arise.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, identify emerging opportunities, and pivot strategies as necessary to maintain competitive advantage and align with our value and design to continuously innovate.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of marketing performance data. Use insights from metrics (such as website traffic, conversion rates, tender, proposals and pitch data) to adjust strategies and optimise campaigns. Regularly assess new marketing channels (e.g. new social platforms, emerging technologies) and determine their potential for our growth.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcome key results (OKRs) for the marketing activities and how that connects with each department’s commercial objectives (and Howlett Brown as a whole), and monitor progress toward achieving them. Align efforts with our broader objectives, such as high performance, revenue growth, brand curation, recognition, demand generation and exceptional client experience.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team. This may include overseeing specialists in digital marketing, content creation, SEO, social media, and design. Inspire creativity and innovation within the team by encouraging challenging design and innovation boundaries, testing new ideas, and maintaining an environment of continuous learning and growth. Ensure that the team has the right resources, tools, and training to be effective. Manage budgets and allocate resources appropriately to maximise ROI.
  • Work with all departments in developing our CRM systems and utilise the intelligence gained from it to support marketing strategies.
  • Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring funds are allocated effectively to achieve maximum results. This includes digital advertising, content development, market research, and technology investments. Ensure that marketing campaigns are cost-effective and resources are used wisely, continually optimising spend for maximum impact.
  • Cross collaborate with departments driving excellence, high performing standards and positive culture internally and externally meeting client needs and demands.
  • Be a business champion in representing the business by sharing thought leadership and best practices at conferences and events.
  • Hold a management role with confidence and the ability to raise potentially sensitive and tense issues when needed to all levels in the company with gravitas, respectful radical candour and strategy to bridge differences and identify solutions.

Core Skills & Standards

  • At least 5 years marketing and public relations experience across innovative, challenger and/or fast growing companies.
  • A strong understanding of workplace and societal norms and cultures, and how they inform or affect organisations, consumer and staff perceptions, and workplace experiences. This understanding extends to who we are as a company, the importance of our work and the human centred approach in how we deliver our services and how we want to present the Howlett Brown brand globally.
  • Growth and innovative mindset, with solution focussed approach to growth, scale and general business logistics and obstacles.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively relay complex information to diverse audiences. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to communicate to all levels in a company and client audiences, and pivot in times of need and prioritise with speed.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, resilience, and logical thinking, evaluating and simplifying complex issues, as well as exercising good and independent judgement.
  • Emotional as well as intellectual intelligence and have a well-balanced commercially strategic and empathetic management and engagement style.
  • Attention to detail and concise drafting and review capabilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, CRM systems, design tools, social media platforms, practices and associated software.
  • Well networked in public relations, connecting and engaging with media organisations.

Skills and attributes:

  • 5+ years in marketing or product management. Passion for marketing is essential
  • GTM /or Project managing experience in a large-sized and international corporation
  • Knowledge across the full marketing mix, including ATL, Digital, and BTL
  • Contribute to delivering successful marketing campaigns and/or product launches
  • Presentation and communication skills, conveying complex concepts through visuals and words. Good reporting & presentation skills are critical for this role
