Amentum are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the Programme and Project Partners (PPP). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. Our Nuclear team provides the front-end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. **What you will need**
+ Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in engineering discipline

The role
We're excited to invite lead mechanical engineers to explore future opportunities with our dynamic team at KBR. The role of lead mechanical engineer is highly valued within KBR and involves extensive interface with the client, project management, suppliers, corporate management, and the global team of mechanical engineers employed throughout KBR's worldwide offices. Leads a group of engineers on a project. Plans, budgets, organises, and controls an important segment of a very extensive and highly diversified engineering program. Responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and work hour budget and successful delivery of mechanical project scope of work. The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, or end user company.
What We're Looking For:
+ A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered engineer preferred.
+ Demonstrated success in leading mechanical teams on energy transition and petrochemical projects, encompassing concept development, front-end engineering design, and detailed design.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovative engineering solutions.
+ Knowledge of the major mechanical equipment types, to include static, machinery, and packaged equipment,
+ A working knowledge of industry standards for energy transition or oil and gas equipment.

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**

WSP have an opportunity for an experienced Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer, in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, focusing on the Data Centre sector with our Mission Critical Facilities team. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and technically challenges projects within this fast paced sector. WSP are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.

+ Candidates will support the team in developing designs for mechanical distribution systems from CHW, HVAC, Fuel to LTHW
+ Provide advice to clients regarding mechanical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.
+ Leading the design of data centre mechanical systems and equipment
+ Provide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.
+ Produce technical specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements
+ Ensure coordination other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers
+ Produce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.
+ Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers' requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.
**Operational responsibilities:**
+ Able to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
+ Able to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.
+ Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
+ Complete the detailed designs of mission critical facilities and all mechanical systems associated to data centres.
+ Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
+ Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
+ Review the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Knowledge and experience in designing mechanical systems for data centres
+ Chartered status (or working towards Chartered status) with CIBSE or IMechE or equivalent experience
+ Technical MEP knowledge of relevant UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc
+ Have an understanding of the of Uptime Institute Tier Classification System
+ Flexible approach to meet the demands of projects
+ Have working understanding of TAS of IES and Hevacomp to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects
+ Have understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects
+ Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects
+ Able to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals within and outside of the WSP team
+ Experience of working to timescales and deadlines
+ Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
