Mechanical/HVAC Engineer – Building Services
Location: Matlock (initially office-based, then hybrid working following probation)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Travel: Projects across Derbyshire – Full UK Driving Licence & Own Transport Required
Experience: Minimum 2 Years as a Full-Time Mechanical / HVAC Engineer
Qualifications: Ideally HNC or above in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. Time-served experience would also be considered.
About the Role
Our client, a multidisciplinary property and design consultancy known for delivering high-quality, sustainable building solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their Building Services team.
Based in Matlock, you will play a key role in the design, delivery, and oversight of Mechanical / HVAC systems across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects throughout Derbyshire and surrounding areas, primarily within the Education sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineer looking to take ownership of projects from concept to completion , including site visits, design, and final sign-off .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of Mechanical / HVAC systems for building services projects
- Prepare and manage tender documentation
- Conduct site inspections, oversee installation, and ensure compliance with design specifications
- Sign off completed Mechanical / HVAC works and ensure quality assurance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Architects, Electrical Engineers, and Project Managers
- Ensure all work complies with current regulations and sustainability standards
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a full-time Mechanical / HVAC Engineering role within building services
- HNC or higher qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary design team on both refurbishment and new build projects
- Experience of managing multiple projects at any one time
- Experience working on Mechanical design within the Education sector
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and Mechanical standards
- Ideally having experience in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MEP Worx)
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
- Live within a commutable distance from Derbyshire
- Experience of working on projects within Local Authority would be advantageous
- As would experience of working in a Building Consultancy
